Hi all, just some questions please, I bought a refurbished iPad Air three month ago from an eBay shop, checked it at the time, all worked fine etc, I put it in the box and put it away in a bedroom draw so my daughter could have it this Christmas, I got it out yesterday to check & charge it, however it has been on charge all night (with original cable and 10W iPad charger) and there’s no sign of life, I have tried a reset, DFU etc and nothing.

Any advice welcome,
Thanks.

Have you successfully been able to charge once you acquired it?

Per above, try another outlet. Also make sure no extension cords are used. I’ve had an occasional situation where charging at a particular outlet just wouldn’t work, but later it was fine.

Thanks guys, yes it worked perfectly when I had it, I checked everything, it charged etc, I have it plugged into an official iPad 10w charger with an official cable, all checked in other devices and working fine.
I didn’t think leaving it for 3 month would do this, dead and needing a charge yes but to be totally dead, seems odd.

Adam.

I’d try a few more things. Per recommendation in this situation:
  • Plug your iPad's USB cable into a computer with iTunes.
  • Hold down the Home button [keep holding] and connect to your iPad.
Keep holding the Home button until you see a screen telling you to connect to iTunes.
  • iTunes should show you a popup saying that there is an iPhone or iPad that is in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored before you can use it.
  • Click OK.
  • Click on Restore iPad.
If still no go, before contacting eBay, stop by your local Apple Store and have the genius bar take a look. They can determine if it’s recoverable using their tools, or if the battery is done for (hopefully not).

Cheers, I have tried the method above with no joy, I’ll pop into my local store once I’m over that way, thanks for the advice.
