I can comfirm that. Not really making fun with Air 1. On The Air 2 iOS 11 is running a lot smoother. Feels like its kind of the end of the Air1, even its just the first beta.

I think im gonna keep the Air 1 in the kitchen as my SONOS Remote and going to buy the 10.5 Pro for action. The Air 1 is not really fun anymore, as you said, even not with iOS10.

My Air is slow enough compared to my 7. I'm not making it any slower by updating to 11.

Here's hoping to an improvement by GM.

Specially a really bad performance when u use safari on the ipad Air 1 or switch between apps with ios11. I dont complain, its the first beta and its quite an old ipad. I guess with the final ios11 it will get better. But as i said before, even with ios10 having safari open with several open tabs is quite laggy and not really fun.

I dont use my ipad that much, i still prefer the macbook, but even as my second device im going tu upgrade my Air 1 to a 10.5 now. Will be lot more fun.

Hello Guys,

Is there any improvement with iOS 11.0.1. i really want to install it on my iPad Air but refraining from it. I think it might leave my device very slow. Also most multitasking features are not meant for iPad air 1.

Overall iOS 11 is smoother and only very slightly slower (most wont notice the difference) on my Air 1. I also have an Air 2 and apart from the obvious hardware & software differences between the two devices there’s really isn’t much between them on iOS 11. I’m pleasantly surprised. And the extra features of iOS 11 make the upgrade well worth while for me.

I have it on my Air 1. It plays Netflix/HBO/etc. and my games just fine. That's pretty much all I use it for. I can't speak to how stutter / lag-free the OS is. As long as my apps run fine, that seems like a silly thing to worry about, so I've never really paid attention.

I don't do any heavy lifting on the Air, so iOS11 is just fine for me. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime all run just fine, and AirPods/other bluetooth headphones work great. The early betas of iOS11 were terrible, but the latest updates (including the 11.1 PB) are fine.

Of course the Air misses out on some of the coolest new features of iOS11 for iPads, but I do like the new dock. Control Center takes a bit of getting used to, but in general it's just fine.

My Air 1 was a bit laggy with 11.0 but that has been resolved with 11.0.1 and I have no real complaints now, other than the Air 1 is just slower in general compared to my iPhone 7.

I finally upgraded my air to iOS 11 and its not that bad. A bit slower but not really bad and understandable as it has only 1gb of ram. But over all managaebale.

The Air 1 uses the same processor as the 5S. Stick to 10.3.3 is my recommendation.
Honestly I was under the impression that it had the iPhone 6 processor. However upon checking it is indeed iPhone 5s. That way it’s doing a good job pushing all those pixels in iPad Air.

That way it should work better in iPhone 5s with all those fewer pixels. But iPhone 5s isn’t that great on iOS 11.
