iPad Air 2 - Certain sound effects do not play

Certain sound effects, like new iMessage notifications, the sent email Swoosh, and the keypad clicks do not play on my iPad Air 2. Other sounds, like music, play correctly, so I know it's not a hardware problem. I restored from a recent backup, but this did not fix the problem. I then wiped the iPad and restored from the same backup, but the problem remained. If I wiped it and set it up as a new iPad, then all of the sounds work. Is there a way I can set it up as a new iPad, not restore from a backup image, and still save my contacts?

I appreciate any help.
