I don't think people realize how powerful the iPad Air 2 is!

Take a look at a few things I found very impressive from MW Technology's Youtube channel. Look at 8:34 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8ApGBRXEOmM

I didn't realise that the iPad Air 2 was substantially more powerful than the Surface Pro 3!

And if you compare the Air 2 to Mac Benchmarks, check this link
http://browser.primatelabs.com/mac-benchmarks

It's more powerful than a mid 2011 MacBook Air and more powerful than an early 2010 MacBook Pro

What do you guys think?

Yes, it's powerful. Now, the software has to take advantage of it. That's the key. Eventually you'd assume it will but we'll have to see how it goes. Right now any ipad can run most apps pretty well, especially the Air 1 which is also pretty powerful.

We shall see.

compairing it with sp3? the other is a powerful toy for sure, but the other is a right tool for a productivity, entertainment and work.

Like some kind of split screen multitasking like Samsung devices have.

To the apple defenders, the split screen multitasking is ABSOLUTELY wrong on the tablet - until the second ape releases the capability. Then it's the best thing since sliced bread.

See - no 7" tablet, 3.5" screens are the perfect size, 5"+ screens on a phone is a disaster, etc...

You'll never meet a more adamant, yet mailable group, with zero ability to be heeld accountable for priory held positions. It's amazing.

Faster than a surface pro 3? Yeah I'm calling BS on that claim.

It is more powerful than the i3 version of the Surface Pro 3 in terms of CPU and is on par with the dual core i5 variant. As for the GPU, the A8X is on par witht the Nvidia K1 which outperforms the Intel HD 4600 found in all Surace Pro 3's.

People just can't accept how an iPad suddenly became more powerful than their MacBook's from few years ago.

You are very correct, the new A8X is just off being on par with the current MacBook Air which is just mind blowing. Power is no longer a concern with iOS devices, it's what users can do with said power is what Apple needs to focus on.

Well, yes, the A8X has more graphics and CPU power than MacBooks a few years ago, but if I could only have one computing device I'd choose the old MacBook.

I have an iPad and it's nice, but all that power is pointless when you are still running a mobile browser and one app at a time.

Watch the video he posted. Believe it.

To the apple defenders, the sit screen multitasking is ABSOLUTELY wrong on the tablet - until the second ape releases the capability. Then it's the best thing since sliced bread.
It's in iOS8's code already (yet not active). They're obviously working on split screen multitasking (by 1/3rds).

Any group has their share of people who don't think for themselves. Android/Windows is no exception.

My sp3 has an i7 that sports an Intel hd 5000. And then definitely still whoops my air 2 in both cpu and gpu tests. As a side note, why doesn't geek bench give individual scores for integer and float performance? I'd also like to see the numbers of AVX vs NEON assembly...

Really? Ok lets see iPad Air 3 will be BEAST over Air 2 so what I think my Air 1 still BEAST anyway. Oh I might want to add my LG G Pad tablet seems very FAST I think it has Quad core CPU. :apple:

Exactly. The hardware is far, far ahead of the software.

Its not. They messed up the geek bench score in the video you linked. Other geek bench3 scores around the net show a consistently higher score (5500+ vs the quoted 3237).

Here are a few hundred examples of what it should be:

Laptop Magazine's benchmarks comparing an I5 Surface Pro 3 to the iPad Air 2.

No big surprises here:

Very strange that LAPTOP mag got 5665 here, while the OP video running Geekbench 3 only got 3237. I am guessing that MW Technology screwed up their benchmark by having something running in the background (AV?).

That being said, IOS8 is optimized for a narrow range of platforms, and has a very limited library. Win8 is not optimized for the surface 3. So it is not surprising that the Air 2 APPEARS to be faster at executing some task. And the Surface 3 (with an I5) really is not as far ahead of the iPad Air 2 as I expected.

The Air 2 does have an impressive 8 core graphics cpu, one that Anadtech rates as "being on par with a low end desktop", similar in power to a GT730M.
