Hi there,

I've noticed that after updating OS's my Ipad Air 2 has been disconnecting from wifi very often, having trouble logging in to networks, and not being able to maintain appropriate speeds when connected to my netgear x10 router. My iphone 8 plus doesn't have any of these issues. I understand that the networking chip on that device may be a bit dated now but it really seems to have gotten worse after the new software update. Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks!

Not on an Air 2, but I know my brand new Ipad Pro 12.9 had issues connecting to wifi, getting that orange exclamation mark saying no internet connection or whatever.

I called customer service, did a complete reset, reboot, re-this and re-that, using itunes to refresh or reset or whatever it's called with my ipad pro 12.9 2017, did the whole reset network connection, renew this and that, and every last bit of measure apple specialist thought of, dropped by apple, internet researched and nothing really helped except move the router into my room. At the apple store, my wifi connection seems to always remain solid. Back home when I was in the same room as my router, my connection was solid.

Basically, they're saying the blame comes down to my router even though my ipad 4 retina (2012) always had fairly solid connection always.

It sucks that I now have the router in my room because using infrared wireless headphones causes conflict. Headphones makes this "wicking" noise if it's close to router. Plus, when I'm in my front yard, I can't pick up a wifi signal with my ipad pro 2017.

But anyways, the personnel down at apple says to try this (which sort of helps, but didn't when my router was in the original room).

Settings > Wi-Fi > (click on blue information symbol directly next to your Wifi name) > Configure IP > Client ID ..... and type anything for Client ID,

you can type gabeomatic ipad or gipad or ipad or gabe ipad or gabe or GB, pretty much anything, you can change it to anything you want....

And according to the apple store associate, this should help strengthen the "bond" between your ipad and your wifi connection.

My experience: it still doesn't really help seeing as how my new ipad pro 2017 is far away from the router, I still experience terrible wifi (or no wifi) connection at all. Maybe I simply have to get a new router.
