Ive had my iPad Air 2 since it first came out and have always used it in landscape (lock is on).

I've just this minute disabled the orientation lock, however, my iPad is STILL stuck in landscape???? Even when going to the home screen and turning my iPad, the screen refuses to orientate - and that's with the lock OFF???? It's in the latest iOS firmware as well?!?!
[doublepost=1483799324][/doublepost]Update - a quick switch off and back on has rectified this!!!

I had this happened on my Air 2 once in a long while. In most cases, all I had to due was hit the power off/on, then it seems to be fine without to really a need to reboot the device.

I think this is a current iOS bug at the moment, at least cycling rotation lock or locking and unlocking the device do not fix it at all.

I just got an iPad Air 2 and noticed the orientation sticking now and then. So far all I've had to do turn off the screen and turn it back on to fix it. But, it is annoying.

I just noticed that it happened to my iPad Air 2 today, a restart fixed it.

this happens as soon as i open my ORIGINAL smart cover. when i take off the smart cover it works without the bug ... not sure how its related? the magnet?

I just noticed the same thing on mine. It's been going on awhile, but after reading your post I took the cover off and it worked perfectly. I've had the cover on it since the day I got it. Curious.

I'm using the Omni Case which has the magnetic strip as well. I removed the case a few days ago and no problems since.

We are all waiting that Apple found some time to fix it. This bug, that never existed in the past (it came with IOS 10) descrive well the attention at the details of Apple after Steve Jobs.

Oh yes. Because we all know CEOs like a Jobs and Cooks do hardware design, software design, quality control, app development, etc. etc.

Please, for your sake, stop showing your stupidity and stop putting Apple CEOs on pedestals they didn't, aren't and never will be on.

The wifey just started complaining about her iPad Air 2 doing the same darn thing you're describing here. And she has the Smart Cover. Will have to try removing it temporarily, but... weird! She's had it since about launch!

Last week I upgraded my Air 2 to IOS 10.2. I've already had this issue 4th or 5th time in a week. First time I had 3-4 days ago, but yesterday and today I had it again, multiple times in a day!

Until IOS 10 I hadn't any kind of problems, but everything started after upgrading.

Also noticed some lags while opening folders.

It just started to bother me a lot.

This constantly happens on my iPad Air 2 but not my IPP 9.7". Its the only difference I (sadly) see between them since I dont much use the Apple pencil.

I'm also seeing this issue and I also have the Smart Case. Locking and unlocking the screen doesn't always work but a reboot does. Oh well.

I've been using an Otterbox Defender case with no magnet for a while now and haven't seen the issue since I started using it so I also only see it when using a case with magnetic closure.

Wouldn't you know it - shortly after posting this I got a lockup using the Otterbox case. So it isn't just magnetic cases.

I believe it's a software issue on the device itself. Used to happen all the time on my case less Air 2, but since I got my new 12.9 it's been fine.
