There is no 32GB model... expect all Air 2 models across the range to drop $100-130 less than their retail price today if they keep making them.

For $100 less, unless Apple pulls an iPad 2 and continues to sell the iPad Air alongside the iPad Air 3. It's possible, since they continued to sell the iPad 2 when the 4 came out and even when the Air came out. If they do that, I can see them brining the Air 2 back a couple of months later like they brought back the 4 to replace the 2.

$100/£80 less but maybe with 32GB storage this time around.

If you're waiting for the price drop, then wait a little while longer for the refurb prices to be updated too.

You can expect the price of the other Air models to start falling a month before release of the new one, which is what we're seeing unofficially now as stores attempt to dump stock. Walmart has the original Air for 299 now. Target starting on Sunday will be taking 100 dollars off the Air 2 models.

will Apple discontinue the Air 1?

My assumption is yes, the Air 1 doesn't have all the features of iOS 9. I'm not saying the Air won't be supported by iOS 10, I just think Apple will want to just sell iPads that can take full advantage of iOS.

So then I'll own 5 generations of iPads Apple doesn't sell. :)

They'll still be available via the Refurbished store.

For a time I kept my Apple devices, I still have my PPC collection but now I sell on my iOS devices. This week I sold my iPad 4 128GB for £250 (360 USD), I have the Pro, still getting used to the size of the device.

Refurbs are great and there are plenty of good deals to be found on used ones right now too if you don't mind.

I snagged a 64GB Air 2 with a Smart Cover and original box for $400 on Swappa last month. Well worth it to me as I saved at least $250. It still has some remaining Apple care too. Mint condition and not a nick on it from what I can tell.
