Just got mine from UPS and started to download some tunes - yes it does some vibrating while Ratt is playing, but it almost makes the iPad feel "alive" in a way. I compared it to my 3 which doesn't vibrate at all, but feeling some movement on the back isn't bad at all. It's not like it's rattling something inside, so not a big deal.

Don't crank up the volume.

If you do want to listen it at louder volume, use a head/earphone pls.

It happens at 50% volume. It happens with the EQ off. It happens with the EQ on "Bass Reducer". It is a design flaw.

I tried the new iPad Air 2 @ an Apple store today. The vibration was very noticeable and highly annoying.

I am sticking with my Air, and the constantly reloading Safari tabs over the Air 2's vibrating chassis.

I got my Air2 today and was really impressed until I started listening to sports radio on Tunein like I always do and I was stunned by the vibration. It's a major annoyance to me !

Is it a design flaw or could it be fixed by a software update ? I reduced it a bit using Bass reducer in sound settings but I can still feel it even with the volume below 50%

I used my old ipad 2 for skysport while the the air 2 was charging and it was so nice to hold the ipad 2 without the vibrations, not sure if i want to return the air 2 but its not cool :(

I didn't think it was a huge problem, though I haven't used the sound much yet. It's just another annoyance they should've worked out before releasing such an expensive product. I'm more bothered by how thick the bezels look relative to rest of the iPad and how flimsy the case feels when propped up as a stand.

some reviews mention that the air first generation also vibrated. I couldn't tell when i owned the ipad first generation (don't have the second yet)

Is it really that serious? I have to try it to believe. But looks like Apple gotta stop making things thinner.

If the software can make your iPad thicker...

It's designed for the back and other areas to act as a sound baffle/radiator, but sounds like Apple made some bad choices tuning the frequency response radiated.

My Air2 will arrive tomorrow, and I'll fiddle with damping the lows. I much prefer an even tonal balance -- hopefully that's achievable with strategic damping and a case.
