Hey what's the difference. I can get a used ipad air 2 cellular 128gb for $320, newer ipad pro 2016 cellular 128gb is around $520 used. $200 price difference worth it if you don't draw? I know cpu is faster in the pro but what exactly do you need a high speed cpu in a tablet running ios...unless MacOS can be installed on the ipad pro.

If you dont plan on using the keyboard than get the Air 2. $200 aint peanuts. I have the air 2 and it runs fine on IOS 11, not getting rid of it for a while.

I can't prove it but based on my experience with my previous Mini 2 (A7) Apple seems to build new versions of iOS with the newest chip in mind an if it works well with older chips, fine, but it's not any kind of priority. So with iOS 10 my mini2 started to slow down like an overheated dog. Scrolling, Safari, just basic things, nothing really taxing. I loaded up the iOS 11 beta on it and after a few updates of that OS realized it was time to dump the mini 2.

I have the iOS 11 beta on my Mini 4 and fast enough but I suspect iOS 12 will likely bring some slow downs. So yes, the chip does matter even if you are just using the iPad to skim the Internet.

As to which of those two iPads you should get -- depends on how long you intend to keep it. The Air 2 has an A8X. The iPad Pro 9.7 an A9X, which is actually faster than this years non-"Pro" iPad. If you don't really need cellular new iPad Pro 9.7s have been regular on sale for just a bit more than the 2017 non- "Pro" iPad. As holiday sales start to crank up should be seeing more of those sales.

Not my experience. I have two mini 2's and an air 2 on IOS 10.3.3 in my household. Mini 2's work like charm on 10.3.3. I was very surprised actuallly just how good. No need to replace them at all. I'll keep them on 10 and expect at least another 2 years of service. Very happy.

Buy what you can afford and now simply what you want.
Saving money is not a crime.

Agreed. Especially as expensive as Apple products are, they offer multiple devices with different pricing tiers that will apply to everybody differently. For example, Not everybody needs Pro features, which is why they offer lower base options.

Or maybe we have the same experience, but my exceptions are higher. :D
