I just noticed that the standard wall charger from Apple gets very warm when charging my iPad Air 2. Is this normal or is my charger possibily defective?

It's normal, as long it's not stopping charging then you are fine.

as long as it's not too hot to start up trouble, then you're fine.

If the charger gets too hot to even touch then you have an issue and should get the charger replaced. Otherwise warm is normal during actual charging.

Thanks everyone for your reply. I tested the same thing on my iPad 2 and it got warm as well. Not quite as warm but close enough that I'm not concerned.

Now my iPad Air 2 only charged up to 99%. Hopefully a full discharge / recharge cycle will fix it.
