You should stick with Samsung..... I think eventually the most important thing is to use whatever you're comfortable using, and it seems like the additional customizability and micro SD slot are important features to you.

It might be important to the OP, but is it to the OP's wife? She has been happily humming along with the iPad 2, so why go with the Samsung tablet? She already has a mini Samsung tablet in the Note, and I'm sure they already have a decent amount invested in apps, etc on the Apple side. I say stick with the iPads for the tablet side.

Sounds like the post starter has made up his mind already. However, I'd had two Samsung Tablets and Samsung has not provided updates to either of them and these were purchased within the last 2 years. There has been some pretty serious security issues, yet no security updates to resolve them. I too had an Note 4 until the iPhone 6S plus came out this year and I have totally abandoned Android for now. Your wife probably doesn't notice it, but I was shocked when I switched to the iPhone at how much smoother and faster the phone is compared to the Note 4. Once again the Note 4 doesn't have the latest OS and likely won't ever. But I know for a fact that Samsung doesn't keep their tablets updated. That new Tab 2 is nice looking though I will say that. It's cheaper, but in the end, you get what you paid for.

a lady include fashion, and i think ipad is more of a fashion product, easier to use, well build
Apple is more focused to have fashion and unisex products than all other companies
i see a lot of ladies with gold ipad or gold 12' macbook
Im a man and bought both a gold macbook and a gold iPad Air 2. Apple iPads are just better iPads. Samsung and others may be able to hide the deficiencies of their phones but that same has not been true of their iPads.

I have two iPads a 2&4 both are WiFi on charge 100% for over three years because they never leave the house. Bought an early Samsung Tab. it was a slow dog, bought the Samsung Tab 10 note WiFi it's also on charge 100% never leaves the house been a great tablet. Bought the smaller Samung Tab Pro WiFi to put videos and pictures on,it's been a great tablet.
I did have a problem with the charger ruining the battery but after some talks with Samsung even as it was out of warranty they had it fixed you can't tell it from a new tablet.
I also had a iPhone4 used it for many years because of a problem with my carrier, i went with a new Samsung s III and a new carrier, i liked the freedom of it's OS over the iPhons OS, but it just had to be rebooted many times to stay working, this might have been because of the new carriers poor signal strength.
But that Samsung charger that ruined the Tab Pro also ruined the battery in the Samsung S III.
So i again switched carriers and bought another IPhone the iPhone6, i miss the freedom of the Samsung OS, but have learned to work around many of the small road blocks Apple forces you to use like iTunes.
But as a phone it is a solid machine.
So i really like both my Samsung tablets and my iPhone. Anyway thats my take on them.

I did end up buying the iPad BTW for anyone interested. I think it was the right choice.

Smart move, Samsung will abandon you quickly as they release about 6 new tablets a year it seems. They just can't decide if they want them to be tabs, pros, notes, then they start adding numbers and letters. But what I know from my own experience and reading the replies of many others here, they don't update the OS. If you get one update, that would be a lot. 2 would be a miracle! LOL

I agree IMHO Apple does gives much better updates to their products then Samsung, but that does not mean their tablets are not good tablets and are very useful to many as they are.
I also agree Samsung just floods the tablet market, with so many new models so quickly it just turns many buyers off.

You know it's really odd the two Samsung Tablets I had I just never really got into using them like I did my iPad Mini 2 and now Air 2. Facebook is so overblown on Android Tablets and that is Facebooks App Dev's fault, but there are a few others apps that my experience has been that as well. Overall, my daily user experience on the iPad vs the Android tablet is different than night and day. The continued support and updates via Apple is just icing on the cake as far as I am concerned. It's all a matter of personal choice at the end of the day and I've done the Android thing and after 3 years have now returned to iPhones and iPads. Samsung and Google had their 3 year opportunity and blew it. One other example of that is bluetooth skipping issues that Google just can't seem to solve because even with Marshmallow and the latest flagship devices this issue is still being reported.

I have both Samsung tablets and iPads, each have their uses each have their good and bad points.
As i have posted before i like the iPhones just don't like how the iPhone forces me to do some tasks, I don't want to use iTunes to move a video file or a picture file, or have to use a work around to get it done, i just want to copy and paste them.
With the Android OS i can do just that, with the Apple OS i can't.

True that Apple is stuck in the way they require things to be done. I don't move enough files around that this is even worth consideration. Besides I use iCloud for most files and now with Office support any files I need I can get access too without having to jump through hoops. Everyone is different! :) Pictures the same for me I just iCloud and can move them and/or attach them with no problems.

However, with your own music and videos you are correct it would require iTunes. I have no issues with iTunes I've never seen the big deal with it that so many seem to take issue with. It gets the job done.

it all depends on if you want support for the next 3 or 4 years on the iPad air 2.you mite be lucky if you get support for 2 years with samsung.apple updates there devices for al least 4 years then they stop supporting it

You are being generous saying they will support for 2 years. I had two Samsung Tablets I purchased within the last 2 years. One was their Pro version and the other a Tab Version. I got one Kit Kat update on the Pro and Never got one on the Tab. The Tab and Pro was never updated to Lollipop and they damn sure won't be upgraded to Marshmallow. There are known security issues on both right now and Samsung isn't going to address them. So, I sold them for 1/10 of what I paid for them because they also have no resell value once you buy them.

I agree Apple will give much better support then Samsung to your devices, this is why i returned to an iPhone and find both my iPad 2&4 both getting updates.
