Arrived with a chip in the frame next to the button. Apple’s quality control is really slipping...that’s a couple of products in a row I’ve had to return. Annoyingly it’ll be mid-Nov before the replacement gets here due to stock shortages.

I mean, is it even noticeable? Using the thickness of the iPad as a reference, that must be like half a millimeter at the most.

I’ve got my Sky Blue iPad today and I totally felt in love with it. The Pro design is amazing, I love the color, finally USB-C and the display is great. It’s not even OLED but the best LCD tablet display I’ve ever seen. The only thing I’m missing is having the 2 parts keyboard on the display. I don’t like the big and small one.

Ive had the iPad Air 3 before but that wasn’t something new in difference of my previous one, the Air 2.

I am really missing the split keyboard as well. It is way too difficult to type with the full size keyboard and a horizontal iPad. I really hope I can figure out a better solution.

The split keyboard was the main reason why I’ve never used third party keyboards on the iPad

Amazon already has a few of the Air's priced down to $559. Sign up for the Amazon Store Card and you get a $60 gift card. That knocks the price down basically to the same as the Air 3 plus tax. Pretty good deal. I've got one on my way from Apple but I'm gonna have to send that one back and re-order through Amazon.

Use the floating keyboard and swipe typing feature. Means you only need to use one hand when typing.

How is everyone finding Touch ID on the power button? I think it works very reliably and fast. Basically press it when the screen is off, and I’m at the Home Screen almost instantly.

First Ax Performance Test scores for the A14 are in. Thanks to whoever this is for running the test. Not sure if this is a phone or iPad score. Seems like performance is about the same as a A12X/Z.

It pushed about 500 more cubes (which is significant) but at a lower frame rate (60hz) then the iPad Pro (120hz) which is why the overall score is lower.

How is the screen brightness? I saw in some tech reviews this one apparently has less nits than even the base model iPad. Not sure if true but it’s what I heard.

I like to leave my iPad at about 30% brightness

I had a chance to speak with someone about the order today - it is currently preparing to ship but still shows next week delivery. I was told that there is a high probability that some shipments from overseas are arriving late due to customs delay in the country of origin. I deal with Fedex & UPS frequently, almost all of my inbound shipments this year are a day or two late and have seen this customs delay several times. Could be worse.

If past experience is any indicator, when it does show up for tracking, it will be from Kentucky. The delay is in the product getting to the hub there. But that's my guess, I honestly have no clue haha.

Mine is finally moving, overnight it was shipped and is waiting for clearance out of China. Apple shows Nov 3rd and UPS shows Oct 28th. Probably will be somewhere in between, once it gets out of China the date should firm up. I’m just glad it’s moving. ?

Could someone post pictures of the sky blue iPad in different lighting? Some of the online pictures make it look very washed out and almost grey or silver in some lighting. Thanks so much.

Sky blue one here. Was disappointed in the colour. My room is relatively dimmly let and you’d never know. It’s basically a very very slightly lighter version of Space Grey. Attached is a photo of it up against the 16 Inch MBP space grey.

it probably looks better in direct sunlight. However I love it anyway.

It’s 500 nits. And yes, that’s less than the cheap iPad, but then again the cheap iPad isn’t laminated. Regardless, 500 nits is more than enough brightness to view it outside.

i hear a lot about this and I have the green one waiting for me at the Post Office while the blue one is waiting to be picked up at a store. I think I’ll opt for the green ... I actually think the green iPad will make a nice contrast to the navy blue folio case ?

If you get both then take photos of them together. I will try and take a photo of the blue outside at some point.

Speaking as someone who has gone from using the 600nit 2017 10.5 Pro for threee years to the Air 4 since yesterday 500nit is plenty bright enough. I’ve had various iPads over last 8 years and generally have them set about 35%-40% brightness (I am photosensitive due to keratoconus so I avoid extreme brightness).

After a day with the Air 4, the 120mhz ProMotion display thing is overblown too - for my use cases at least. I don’t use a pencil or game or do anything massively heavy on the graphics, so no real noticeable difference.

Just ran down to Best Buy and they had a blue one out on the table. That was the only color they had out. In the store lighting, it did look like a watered down SG to me -- but then again, my eyes aren't what they were 20 years ago either. Will be anxious to see pictures of the blue in different lighting -- right now am leaning towards traditional SG...
