I have a little bit more than a year old Ipad Air 3. I noticed some time ago that the screen has started to develop a bright spot above the power button in exactly the same place as Ipad pro 10.5.

Has anyone else had the same issue and why has Apple not fixed this problem in their design?

What bothers me is that they must know about the flaw in their design as the problem with Ipad pro 10.5 was so widely spread.

I read a whole thread here about that issue, so I went check out an ipad air 3 in a store and saw the same issue there....bright dot above home button visible on white background. Definitely not a coincidence.

The old one broke within a month from the purchase so it did not have time to develop.

The new one has to have been manufactured between those dates. I suppose it might be safe to try to get the new Ipad Air 3 replaced for the bright spot while it is still under 2 year consumer protection of EU.

Yeah, I think it is worth to try because in EU it should be 2 years. It would be interesting to hear what they say and if you get replacement how does it look? My new Air 3 I recently got looks good but I'm afraid how long it stays like that. It was build very recently, so hoping there would be something done to prevent it from happening.

By the way, do you use pencil? Also have you noticed any issues with battery or seen capacity dropping when bright spot became visible? Trying to figure out what could cause that, like is there some part heating underneath it or battery swelling etc...?

I saw some speculation in this thread suggesting it might be from using keyboard with smart connector:

Are all seeing bright spot issue in Air 3 using keyboard connected to smart connector?
