Hi all

I have a mint condition iPad Air 3rd Gen.
No more warranty but it’s literally just been sitting in the drawer
I updated it to 14.6 and I am noticing that sometimes it would disregard my touches for 3-5 seconds intermittently.

I’m thinking maybe this has something to do with the accidental touch algorithms being over zealous?

anyone encounter this? I’m thinking to spend $99 to change the battery and have it replaced… if it’s a hardware issue…

Do you mean it doesn’t recognise any touch on the SCREEN for a few seconds? If so I’m have the exact same issue…and I’ve noticed that when this happens the pencil input isn’t affected

I sure feel dumb if this is what OP meant.

Yeah I mean touches on the touchscreen :)
I actually don’t have an Apple Pencil so I don’t know if the pencil input is affected.
I really hope it’s not a hardware issue.

Ok so that’s the same thing I’m experiencing. Been intermittently like that for a month or more now

This was a problem I was having with a 10.5 iPad Pro. Not quite the exact same display but close.

iPad Air 3?
Yep Air 3. I’ve had it since they came out but this only started happening a few months ago. I’ve restarted it,
Updated it but nothing has changed. I can’t understand the issue as the touch input from the Apple Pencil is unaffected when it’s like this. Drives me mad when it happens

I had that same problem on my 10.5” iPad Pro. It started around the time that the iPadOS 14.6 beta came out.

The problem went away completely with 14.7. Although, that’s not released yet.

I think it’s a software bug that has nothing to do with the hardware.

I really hope so! I hate doing the whole hardware exchange game
