I would rather have a physical home button so that I can reset the iPad easily. The new method is less known and a bit less intuitive.
Well having the 2018 iPad and an iPhone 8+ I personally very much prefer the haptic button. Didn’t think I would when I got the phone but I definitely do

I never had a doubt that it would be a 2nd gen TouchID (and it is).

This is not a rhetorical question, but when did Apple last release a “new” product with 1st gen TouchID?

By now I’d imagine there isn’t a huge added cost to 2nd gen TouchID over 1st.

Might have to very soon. Can’t even get 4 hours of use out of it. Wish Apple would let us see the battery health on iPads. Mines probably in the 50’s at this point
If you have a Mac, you can check using CoconutBattery.

For Apple’s official number use 3U Tools (Windows).

For a more accurate number, use Coconut Battery (MAC) or iMazing (Win and MAC both).
