So I had the iPad Air 4 which I am now giving to a friend. I preordered the Air 5 but was wondering whether I should go for the iPad Pro 3rd Gen 11" instead? CEX have the Pro for 630 which I can go collect nearby whereas the Air 5 I got via unidays so bought it at £526. I am a fan of ProMotion having used it on my iPhone 13PM, but is that and the quad speakers/brighter screen worth the extra 140 odd quid? I've also managed to get the Magic Keyboard for 150 via Amazon sales so plan to use that as well.

There's also the possibility that Apple release a brand new cycle of iPad Pro's sometime soon as well so thinking if it's worth getting now.

I expect these to become a lot more common as time goes on.

If you've experienced ProMotion - anything that isn't promotion will feel laggy, slow, and chunky.

Is it worth 140? Heck yeah. I got a mini 6 and just could not .... after using an iPP 11 since 2018. While the mini 6 is amazing, and I thought I'd love it, it just ... yeah. Once you go Pro it's difficult to go back.

The Magic Keyboard is amazing.

Awesome, so iPad Pro 11 is probably the way to go then...

Agree with @BigMcGuire re: ProMotion. I've used it since I had the 2017 10.5 iPP (first Apple product that came out with ProMotion), and since 2019 with the 11" iPad Pro (2018 version), and really can't go back. Like many things, I feel like you notice it less when you first "upgrade", but more when it's taken away (eg. you use someone else's iPad). Given the larger screen, I feel it makes a bigger difference having ProMotion on the iPad than it does an iPhone.

If you can get the 2018 11" iPP for a little more as the new iPad Air, I agree I would lean towards the 11" iPP. Only small drawbacks are a slightly worse selfie camera (no Centerstage) though still fantastic for video calls, a slightly older chip (A12X vs M1 in new iPad Air) though as many will attest is still more than powerful enough for pretty much anything you can do on iPadOS, and Face ID vs Touch ID (some may prefer Touch, I personally love Face ID on the iPad).

The fact that the 2018 11" iPP still has the same design language has the 2021 version (basically can't tell them apart other than single camera vs dual camera/LIDAR) makes buying the older gen even more palatable.

Yeah I agree with promotion. Even on my iphone it makes a big difference. And to edit my original point, I have now found it for 630 from cex with Wifi only and Grade A. So essentially £60 quid more than the RRP or 100 more than the UniDays price I paid. So judging it on that, it should be a slam dunk to buy the iPad Pro right?
