I just bought a used iPad Air first gen, and it happens to be on iOS 10.3.1. Should I leave it alone, or should I upgrade to 12 based on the beta devices? I wanted to try the beta of 12, but I know the full one releases within a month so I didn't know. Watching videos, I definitely want to keep it on 10 vs 11.

You should wait a couple of weeks for reviews to come in. There will be many YouTube videos as well. Keep in mind if you don’t like it the lowest you can downgrade to will be iOS 11.

My Air is still on 10.3.3. What I’ve read so far anecdotally is that people with Airs on iOS 11 that moved to the 12 beta have seen a performance increase. People with Airs thatmove from 10 to 12 are still seeing a performance decrease.

I’m still keeping mine on 10.3.3 simply because there’s no way to get back to that version if I don’t like iOS 12’s performance.

That's what I"m worried about. For what I do, I could care less about the newer features.

I'm primarily an android person. I still prefer android phones, but their tablets are just junk for the money. This 5-year-old tablet has better battery life (newer battery it seems) and is just as smooth as newer Android tablets(cause those things lag too). And I only gave $105 on swappa for it in really good shape. It's just a 16gb ATT variant, but I'm extremely pleased with it. Sounds like I might just hold off a while to see if it helps or hurts these air 1's.
