But consider the Nexus 7 2013 model.. At 290 grams and has equally a 1920x1200 res LCD. It's just not as thin as the retina-Mini. I just fail to see why Apple couldn't get this done.
Now I'm torn, only reason I want to get iPad Mini 2 is because I thought iPad will still come out heavy when it comes to its weight but now with the iPad Air, don't know what to pick? What do you think?
I'm now torn. iPad Air, nice full screen for books and mags...or iPad Mini w/ Retina, same experience, better pixel density and $100 saved in my pocket!
I was really gung ho in getting the new ipad 5 with 128 GB, but now seeing that the iPad 2 retina has the same exact specs with a higher PPI and 128GB, I'm going for that one! Thanks to Apple for helping me make up my mind! I really thought the iPad 5 was going to be more premium.

The retina mini has a whopping 50% more pixels, is 20% thinner, has 1+ hour better battery life, and has a screen size over 50% larger. Yet it's the same height, is only 2 cm wider, and weighs only 41 grams more -- the weight of less than 3 tablespoons of water. Not a bad trade-off...
