Lots of useful feedback here!

It seems like I'm not the only one torn between the two as I suspected. I think that so far, I've concluded that I'm going to have to go see the retina mini in person when comes out, to see if it sells itself to me over the Air. It will be interesting to see the increased pixel density in person.

I am really starting to more heavily consider the Air, simply because of the comments about the totally different browsing experience compared to other devices and the mini. But, I have great vision, so that will not be the reason for my decision. (However, I do really like to do some basic photo editing on the full size iPad... I've never tried on the mini, so I don't know how that might be.)

The only other question that has not been addressed is cellular capability. Is the extra $129 and wireless subscription worth it, in your opinion, for those who have used it/are using it? I was frequently without wifi when I used my iPad out and about, and for that reason I was always disappointed that I did not get the cellular version.

My decision will probably ultimately have to do with the end price. I just don't have a ton of money to shell out for an iPad, unforunately :(

I'll chime in on the cellular question since this is the first time I splurged for a cell model(AT&T). So far, honestly, I wish I'd had spent the extra money on the wifi and 64 GB of storage versus the 32GB and cell support. It's cool having the cell data option and I'm sure there will be a few occasions where the cell data will come in handy. But, those times will be few and far between for me.

The storage would have been better used I'm thinking. For you, perhaps this doesn't matter but I wanted to let ya know that I'd make sure you will really use the cell data versus just wanting to have it.

This is something that really depends on individual usage/preference/need.

I use cell data regularly albeit not a large volume; email, a little web browsing, various apps syncing to cloud data/services (e.g. Evernote, Wall Street Journal, Kindle app, etc.). I've rarely exceeded Verizons $20/1GB/30day plan (and recently switched to AT&T's $25/1GB/90day plan)

Could I make due with only wifi? Sure. But for me the convenience of the always-on data connection is well worth the added cost; I don't need to remember to sync up stuff before leaving home or the office, no need to jump through hoops to access free wifi at wherever I am, etc.

(BTW, why don't I tether? Changing my cell plan to allow tethering would actually end up costing me more per month... YMMV)
