iPad Air smart cover - no lock screen when opening cover

On the most recent iOS Beta I've noticed that the smart cover no long keeps my ipad locked when I open the cover. In all previous build the iPad would take me to the lock screen and I would need to hit the home button twice (as I have no lock code on the iPad)

Anyone else notice this, or did a setting get changed that I didn't realize?

Makes sense.

If I have a notification on the lock screen show me. If not bring me to the home screen.

I believe that's how it is and has been in iOS 9 and before.
