About once a day for the past few months my relativity new iPad Air treats a single tap as a long hold. I’ll go to click on Safari, etc. from the home screen and it won’t open, instead just gives me contextual menu options. A simple restart fixes the problem but it’s pretty anoying. Anyone ever heard of this? Running latest version of iPadOS 16.

I haven’t had such experience, but usually setting -> general -> reset all settings will fix it.

Did you ever find a solution for this ? This happens to my iPad Air as well.

No however I discovered if I take the iPad off the Apple keyboard cover and put it right back on it solves the problem.
I haven't been on this website in years, but I logged back into thank you for this bit right here. Thank you sir.

I had exactly this problem with my old iPad Pro 11 - I replaced it with an iPad Air, same problem. I noticed that it was resolved when I removed the (frankly very old) keyboard cover so I replaced that - it still happens from time to time. Seem like its a software problem, but I have found very few others say they have the same problem and (of course) it never happens when I am in the store.
