why can't I pinch to close my emails

I can pinch and close all my other pages I have open , but when I try to pinch and close my email page it won't close . It is a new iPad Air 2 and it worked at first but now the email page won't close when I try to pinch it to close .

Go into Settings>Multitasking and check that Gestures is on. I think mine went to off after the last update because it was off and I don't recall doing that.

Just tried it and it is on ,so I turned it off then back and its still not working.

It might be a greasy screen, too dirty to properly detect all touches? Have you tried cleaning? Have you restarted?

Tried that also still the same
