iPad and the Component AV Cable

I have the Apple Component AV Cable and it works GREAT to watch movies on my big flat screen of movies and TV shows I've downloaded from iTunes onto my iPhone.

It works on my iPad too. However, if I try to watch something from the iPad that is on my ABC TV app, it only plays the audio.

What gives?

The ABC Player doesn't support video output is what gives. Hopefully, some of that changes with AirPlay next month (although that wouldn't help you).

At $50, the Apple component cables are nothing but a rip-off especially since they're artificially limited to 480p and their use is restricted to certain applications.

free app TVout2 on cydia might work for you, requires jailbreak though

Does the cable work for netflix?

yes, as does the VGA cable. The VGA cable will not allow you to play legally purchased movies through itunes on your tv though...that's what chaps my *&^%.
