The reason you see people wearing earbuds all the time is that they have no choice but to use decent bluetooth devices to go with their jackless iPhones. Their success might be deemed the result of the cynical, but profitable marketing decision by Apple to remove the headphone jack. Until the last few weeks, when my iPad Pro started exhibiting a non-responsive touch screen, I would have agreed that the iPad was Apple's best product of the decade. I have hopes that the latest iOS (iPad OS?) will fix the issue. Right now I can no longer trust it for use during music performances, when page turning via touch is critical.

Yep, and they are huge money makers for Apple.Really? Really? A big iPod touch, iwatch, and tampon strings.
I agree. Didn't mean to short sell the AirPods. I loved my 1st Gen AirPods that I gave to my wife when the Powerbeats Pro were released. They were fantastic for what they were designed for but the PowerBeats Pros fit my particular use case better. I haven't tried the AirPod Pros yet but I will probably pick up a pair in Q1 next year.Airpods aswell, .. its no accident every brand went and apply the exact same execution-concept afterwards (little box that works as charger, and truly wireless "buds" that you can put in the charger/box opening a simple lid for a quick charge)
Headphones and earphones weren't new, just as smartphones (blackberry); but all of them (Mac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Airpods) were executed in a "massificable"-"best in class"-customer-experience-way, that all of them could be taken as clear new inventions.
All of them where ripped-of right afterwards; except those that had a patent/exclusivity deal involved (talking about iPod's small new-tech for HDD)
And also: decade ends december 31th 2020, what the hell
I love Apple because of facts.
Yeah that’s true. I for one am happy to see a TeslaI have a VR headset. I use it maybe once a week, I also have an iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods, I use them daily.
The list is also about most important products, not revolutionary products. Apple Watches have literally saved lives.
Agree to disagree that the original AirPods were ever a “household item,” even among iPhone users that comprised approximately 50% of the US population, and far less globally.
Bragi Sells Off Wearables Business as It Focuses on Softwaresnip...my Bragi Dash and then Bragi The Headphones had no trouble pairing with my iPhones, did everything and more that the first AirPods did,
You've strayed into the personal preference area and appear to be trying to present it as a fact.and were WAY better than Apple‘s first attempt as they sealed your ear canal rather just hang in your ear.
There was no year zero. 2011 was the first year of the current decade. 2010 was the last year of the 2000’s. So two things, iPad was released in the last year of the previous decade, and Time is a year early to have there “of the decade” lists.
Um... Bragi who? You are going to quibble over if AirPods are a household item (they are) while trumpeting how breakthrough Bragi was? Post a picture so we can actually see someone wearing them.
...
Do they all work for Bragi? And here you go.....you only asked for one, but ere’s a few:
And even if they did, who’s benefitting from lossless audio on the go? I’ll answer that. No one. And if they’re in a quiet listening room, as you say, an audiophile like that won’t be using earbuds of any kind. Not everyone has a bunch of lossless audio files that they need to listen to
Do they all work for Bragi?
AirPods > than Bragi
Apple knew it
Bragi knew it
Thus Bragi is out of the wearable game.
TIME has published a list of what it believes are the 10 most important gadgets introduced in the last decade, and three Apple products have made the cut, including the iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
The list also includes the Tesla Model S, Raspberry Pi, Google Chromecast, DJI Phantom, Amazon Echo, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Adaptive Controller.
To clarify I didn't request any pictures.Hey, you just asked for a picture....you weren’t specific.
Listen, as I said I‘m a HUGE Apple guy, and can afford anything Apple I want, but after using my Dash I hated the original AirPods looks and fit. IMHO Bragi’s 2nd attempt at a wireless earbuds, which came out a few days before the original AirPods, were better than Apple‘s first attempt....they sealed the ear instead of just sitting in it, and they didn’t look like crap with a long stem that looked like a scene from “There’s Something about Mary.“ The proof? Apple’s second attempt are ear-sealing with a much-shorter stem. In future versions the stem will likely disappear all-together......just as in Bragi’s original Dash design.
The Headphones were a little cheaper than the original AirPods, but to Apple‘s credit they had the charging case that The Headphones did not and got a little more use time (4 vs 5, as I recall).
The subtlety was an attempt diminish cooks’ contribution. However the three products are from Apple, Time mag wasn’t counting which ceo did what, is the point.Ok. Point being?
Maybe take it up with Time. After all it’s their list.Definitely Raspberry Pi and Tesla should be at the top of the list but replace:
- Chromecast with Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
- iPad with Galaxy Note II
- Amazon Echo with Google Home Hub Max
Amazon Fire HD 10 would be on the list too if it wasn't running Amazon Fire OS which is almost as oppressive as iOS/iPadOS.
Most definitely not a dying breed. Walk into any office, and look around - desktop computers everywhere. Look around homes - laptops everywhere. Different form factors for different reasons. Most people I know have a laptop at home, and a desktop at work. Some prefer an iPad, but of the people I know, it's definitely not the dominant form factor. The newest iPad Pro is the best computer I have ever used and I couldn't be happier to move on from traditional PC's, definitely a dying breed.
Nope. Still not evidence Apple was pushing luxury fashion. Also a lot of the health stuff probably wasn’t ready when the Watch first launched so they couldn’t focus on it.Here are a few news articles for your perusal:

Why do desktops dominate in workplaces? Because there is no need for mobility, and the lack of mobility makes it harder for them to walk out the door, and they are also very cheap (well, unless you buy Apple, but most workplaces have Windows), configurable, upgradeable, and also you can custom choose a much larger screen at a much cheaper price than for a laptop/iPad.
Why do laptops dominate at home? Because they give you the best compromise of mobility with screen size, full keyboard, storage size, and computing power.
The computing power of iPads are increasing, but they still have tiny SSDs, less RAM, tiny screens, and no real keyboard. Yes you can plug them into a bigger screen, but then you've lost the entirety of your mobility, and yes you can plug them into a keyboard, but then you've basically created a substandard mini laptop.
Horses for courses dude, and none of them are "dying". I'm happy for you that the newest iPad Pro is the best computer you've ever used, that's wonderful for you, but for so many other people, iPads are next to useless and we don't even own one. And yes, I've used an iPad, my son has one. And of all the screens my son has (PS4, MBA, iPad, iPhone), the iPad is the only one he almost never uses, as it's screen is too small, doesn't have a proper keyboard, and yet it's too big to fit in his pocket. The only time he ever uses it, is if he's left his laptop at his mum's, and even then, he usually just uses his phone instead.

Then I’m not sure of the point you were trying to make.It was not an “attempt” to diminish Cook’s contribution. I said plainly that the iPad came from the Steve Jobs era.
I still don’t get the point you are trying to make. Yes, we all know the iPad is an Apple product. Nobody is claiming it isn’t.
