So I was having a real hard time deciding what to get my girlfriend for her birthday. She already has everything she needs... Even she had a hard time saying what she wanted.

So on a whim I went out and got her an iPad and surprised her with it. And she absolutely loved it! I wasn't really sure how she would respond to it. She loves playing with mine but she isn't really a heavy computer or gadget user. But she has been using it for pandora when she works, browses the web while in bed and plays a few games on it. She really enjoys it and has been using it a lot more then she could have ever imagined.

Just wanted to share... I'm one stop closer to converting her to a :apple: lover!!

Congrats. It is a nice device, albeit a luxury device. I love mine, I really thought and wanted to hate it.

Do we really need another "look what I can afford" type thread in disguise? I bought my wife a brand new car last year - I didn't go posting that all over the Audi forums.

I am queen of cynical and I really did not see it that way. I saw it as a some weird desire to tell people about the gift but not in the pretentious way. I could be wrong, sometimes my cynical compass doesn't quite work, but that's just my theory. I don't see the need for the thread but every so often you need to humor the kids. ;)

While we're on the subject, which Audi? ;)

Your pretend outrage is fooling no-one and not distracting us from your oh-so-obvious attempt to boast that you can afford a brand new Audi. :)

Haha totally wasn't trying to come across like that. I am by no means able to afford much of anything right now due to school. My student loan just went through finally and I got a nice commission check from work so I had a little extra to spend on someone I love. That's all.

Just wanted to share what was and is a nice experience on my end.

Have fun with that Audi. ;)

It was an Audi TT Roadster RS in a custom white pearl finish.

Outrage?! What outrage? I made a simple statement that this kind of shallow-thread is good for nothing but boasting. I make no "attempts" at anything, I'm not the one creating threads to boast about what presents I can afford.

I'm 25, have a salary to brag about, owned multiple vehicles that cost as much as your Audi.....but that's not me to boast. Im not a fan of people who brag

OP: nice gift! I'm sure she will love it. My wife plays plants vs zombies on mine all the time!

Sorry, can't talk now, I've got the Bentley garage on the other line.

Good for you. My daily runaround is an old Golf, so whatever...

So you are hypocrite then?

I don't have a salary to brag about, I have a business. One that nets more than enough profit for me to buy an equivalent Audi each and every month. Thing is, I'm not completely motivated by money like you are, or boasting, but if my wife wants an Audi TT Roadster RS, she can have one.

Well, that was a very hippocritical comment, seeing as now you are the one boasting that you bought an audi. Honestly, do we really need another "look what I can afford" comment in disguise?

She's using PC then. :)
Anybody using a "Mac" is just using a Personal Computer, unless it's for business use, then it's a Business Computer. Apple make the "Mac", just like SONY make the "Vaio". Both are personal computers, but I know that Apple fanboys don't like to think of themselves in the same group of users.

No, it doesn't come down to the OS either, because I have a PERSONAL COMPUTER sat here that can boot into Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

Hippocritical...no, definitely not.

Oh yeah you can try. I'm a PC user for 20 years and one of my favorite program is MediaMonkey. I got iPod Touch last September. That's the only Apple product for me but now when I'm using MediaMonkey I just feel it is.. a bit complicated than neccesary.
The new Macbook Air is more and more tempting.

Congrats on the bday present. Its always nice when you pick something that blows the socks away of the receiver :)

Given that this is a discussion forum, it seems the OP wanted to discuss the purchase. Must you be so negative in your posts all the time.

whats mediamonkey? Never heard of it before.

The MBA is really nice. One of my professors picked up one of the new ones last fall and its incredible how tiny and thin it is yet still fully functional.

MediaMonkey is a software to play music, just like iTunes. The benefit of it is it let you play FLAC natively which Windows Media Player won't do.

And it's really fast, from what I tested at the store.
I'm waiting to see what the new MBP offer. If it still weight a lot then it's new 13" MBA for me.

Yep, she steals my iPad to play it all the time. I've heard of words with friends, but havnt tried it yet, maybe I will though I've heard it's good

yeah same here. My 2006 MB is great but it starting to show its age.. trying to decide what to upgrade to. Good luck!

On topic though-To the OP, that's awesome. Glad she liked it. I am in the process of trying to convert my fiance over to mac as well lol.

This post was actually really useful for me as I was considering buying my gf an iPad for vday and decided was starting to doubt myself (doubt whether she'll like it/use it often) but decided just now that it is actually a great idea and am excited again to give it to her. Thanks OP!
