Anyone know if the supercenter walmarts that stay open 24 would sell the ipads at midnight?
thanks!

Good idea.. that would be interesting because even if you failed to get one then it wouldn't effect trying for one at bestbuy/target/etc. at the regular time.

Ill have to ask mine the day before...

I work at Walmart as a truck unloader. We do not receive iPad shipments from the trucks, they are brought in separate by a different truck specially for iPads. And no, I don't think they will be there by midnight for a launch.

Depending on your area, Walmart may be a good choice. I remember the day the iPad 2 came out in stores there were walmarts in my area that had stock for the next few days. I just drove right out to one late that day and got one.

very nice to know!

Man, I just don't have enough time to mess around with stuff like this. I just ordered it on launch day and had it sent to my house.

On Wal-Mart Canada's internal Wire system used to send out directives from home office it is listed as "the street date for the new iPad is March 16th at 5pm for ALL RETAILERS." Now this may be Canada only, and it may just be Wal-Mart figuring Apple will copy the 5pm release it had for the iPad 2 but at least for now it does not bode well for a midnight launch.

Once employees or people they know buy up the onesies and twosies for resale, there won't be any available for a while. After iPad2 came out, it was many, many weeks before Walmarts and Targets got them.

Not true universally. The Targets in my area received a steady supply last year, though it was spotty in terms of which stores received shipments and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the configs they received.

I wouldn't buy a free cup of tea from Walmart.

My experience of the technical section of many many Walmarts is they just came over from packing the shelves because they saw nobody was covering the electronics department..!

You never heard of manager override? I got an iPad 2, Xbox 360, and some others early that way. lol

Don't count on it. Apple forbids retailers from selling until the launch date AND time. I got my iPad2 at Best Buy on launch day and they were locked in the vault until 5PM.

I have done it in the past so I know it can be done. But my pre-orders already shipped so it does not matter.

Why do you care who's manning the dept.? You just need to buy an iPad. An untrained chimpanzee sell you an iPad.

How does that matter ? Does anyone from any department selling you the iPad/electronics change the way the item functions ?

Some people...

As far as we know.... Apple announced that the Ipad 3rd Gen is going on sale 16 Mar.... they didnt specify a time like they did for the iPad 2

I have a friend that is in management at a Wal-Mart (in a town of 14,000) and he said their store is not slated to get any out of the first batch that are shipped.
