Double tap home icon on ipad to bring up iPod controller popup...

Note: you must already be playing music in iPod app to have double tap feature working in iPad.

Also:

Step 1: load movies into iTunes on Mac mini.

Step 2: get remote desktop app like jaadu on app store

Step 3: launch front row on Mac mini using remote desktop app

Step 4: use iPad as kick ass remote control for your Mac mini HTPC
