Hi Forum,

I was wondering if anybody understands iPad backups. Ever since the Cloud came out I back up through both iTunes and the free version of the Cloud.

I still do iTunes because I am under the impression that only dealing with 5GB of Cloud isn't enough to back up all of my GoodReader documents, 1Password information, and other application data. For example, if I buy a new ipad and want it restored I am assuming my free 5GB storage will not be enough. Am I correct in assuming this?

If this is the case, and I still need to back up through iTunes, is there a way to save my backup on an external so I am not eating up internal HD storage space?

thanks,

cfs

Hey, your method of doing things seems to be perfectly normal. I am way beyond 5GB of free cloud storage so I use iTunes all the time.

To my knowledge there is no way to backup your device to an external drive via iTunes.

Thanks. Good to know.
