Hi. I wonder if anyone has managed to make the iPad CCK work on iPhone and iPod touch on current firmwares. I know there is Camera Connector Cydia tweak but AFAIK it never worked :p

So basically you're sayin that the initial version (0.0.1-1) is gonna work? If so, where can I find the deb?

What do you exactly need? USB keyboard support or storage card support?

The former is supported on iPhones / iPt's if they run iOS7 (just tested on my iPhone 5). On earlier OS'es, it's not supported unless you install an earlier version of the DEB. In Cydia, the current version is the same 0.0.2d3-3 I reported on earlier - the one not working on non-3GS iOS5/6 devices any more. The earlier versions (e.g., 0.0.1-1) did.

I'll mail the dev.

----------

It worked only in previous versions of iOS. Currently, nothing enables that in iOS 7.

Note that the iPhone / iPt version of iOS7 has USB keyboard support built-in, w/o even having to JB. This is certainly a great addition in iOS7.

----------

I'll mail the dev.

OK, done, I've sent this mail:

Hi,

any plans of fixing the current version of CameraConnector so that it's able to support USB keyboards under iOS5/6 on iPhone and iPod touch devices other than the 3GS? The currently available 0.0.2d3-3 no longer supports keyboards.

See https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=19086560 for a discussion and https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1585009/ for a report on 0.0.2d3-3's losing support.

BTW, I'm a paying customer of your tweak (PayPal transaction: Aug 1, 2012 12:44:12 PDT, Transaction ID: 6JA49325BV877320M) and have reported on it / recommended it to my readers several times; for example, at http://www.ijailbreak.com/cydia/cameraconnector-cydia-tweak-ios/

I mainly need USB and card storage support. So what about this?

Memory support? Impossible, sorry. This isn't Android / Windows Phone with their USB OTG support, Apple does want you to purchase higher-capacity iPhones...

This is not impossible at all. On iPads you can use both the adapters from the CCK to connect external memories, sometimes with a powered hub. You can manage photos and videos without jailbreak, and you can also mount it with jailbreak and iFile. I just wanna know if it's possible to do this on other devices too.

For the most part no, it is impossible.

You want the technical answer?

The iphone runs a slightly different firmware to the ipad, amongst other things, this particular function is something that is different.

In order to achieve what you want, someone would have to do a kernel patch to modify the phone to get it to work - either by scratch or from using the ipad firmware. Not any random tweak developer can do this, talking same expertises as the evaders here.

Even if someone somehow had the motivation and skill to attempt developing it, it would just be too risky to test. You wouldn't want to install these sort of patches that modify the kernel on your phone particularly when the jailbreak window is closed. And who knows what other consequence doing something like this would have.

So the short answer is, it's impossible - because no one will ever bother to do it, any motivation to try would be getting less and less each day due to the increase in cloud storage. And for what little demand there is for something like this that isn't filled by cloud storage, then there are portable hard drives / usb sticks now with wifi hot spots built in - that give the same overal result.

Been a couple of threads on reddit recently about this if you want to read them;

1. FYI: in the entire thread, I only spoke of iPhones and iPod touches. Not iPads.

2, I know - it was me who has published the well-known symlink bible, for example.

Ok, got it, thank you for your explanation.

Alright, sorry for the misunderstanding.
