    Hi all,

I'm ordering in iPad for my mom that is currently visiting me in australia. However she will only use it for a week in australia and then she's going to bring it back to asia. I wanted to fill up the ipad with my apps, videos, and photos (since I've already paid for those for my iPod touch and my mom wants to see my photos). However I'm worried if her iPad won't be able to sync to her computer once she's overseas. Would giving her my password enable her to sync to her computer? If not, is there any way she can copy all the pictures and apps before her iTunes wipe it off?

I don't want her to jailbreak, neither some complicated hack. as she's not that techy and I won't be available to help her connecting ipad once she went away from australia.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

She will be able to transfer the photos when she syncs at home. Anything you bought from iTunes she will need your password and an AU account.

I see. Will the option be "transfer and erase" if she wants to keep the photos and delete the apps?

She's going to be in malaysia, so will AU iTunes password be accepted there? I know that sometimes you can't connect to international stores...

I thought that only worked with photos in the so-called "camera roll" -- ones that you save from internet webpages, email attachments, and those that you import from a camera using the camera connection kit. If the OP wants to give pics to the mom, why not just copy them to a flash drive? She can then copy them to her computer when she gets home, and sync them back to the iPad from her computer.

Hmm basically all I wanna do is to make it easy in her part – she's 55 and I don't think she'll be able to do complicated stuff. She uses facebook and youtube, but that's about it. She's better than other 55 year old women in her city but I thought it'll be easier if I keep the photos in the iPad...

Another idea: What about if she creates an iTunes account in my computer and I'll sync the photos and apps (not my apps, but I'll get the ones she wants from here). Then when she's back in malaysia she can log in with that iTunes account. Will that work?

Will work for apps, not for photos, since they are not tied to an iTunes account.

I get what you are saying about making it easier for her, but the thing is, anything that is on an iPad is just a temporary copy, your main files need to be on a computer somewhere, or else there is no way to get them back in case your iPad is damaged, is lost/stolen, or something goes screwy with the software and it needs to be restored. So put the pics on the iPad for your mom, but also give her the picture files on a flash drive for backup. That way she can experiment with how to sync with her computer without worrying about permanently losing the pictures.

Okay right, I'll give the photos and video in a flash drive.

However I also want to activate the iPad in my name. When she flew back, would the iPad have to be wiped out if she connects it to her computer?
