iPad dock icons disappeared, but not deleted

So I'm not sure how this happened, and I'm hoping someone can help fix it. All 6 of the icons on my dock just disappeared. But none of them were deleted or uninstalled. They weren't moved somewhere else to a different screen. I can only launch them by searching for them. Can anyone help me to get them back? Also, this happened before upgrading the OS from 4.2.1, an Apple employee suggested that I upgrade to 4.3 and sync. After I completed that, I still didn't get the icons back on the dock.
