iPad education discount permanent or temporary?

Is the iPad education discount going to be permanent year round thing like it is with all of apple's computers? Or is it just a temporary back to school promotion discount deal?

There's no discount on the iPad just a $50 iTunes card. I'm a student and just bought one.

Just a $50 gift card with purchase. I think it only runs over the summer along with the buy a Mac and get a free $100 gift card promo for back to school.

Oh my mistake. I thought it was a $50 discount on the price of the iPad, not an iTunes card. Guess it is temporary then.
