It's your mom and it's a gift that being said. If she has a laptop and doesn't use it, see's your iPad and hasn't asked once to try it then she may not be interested in it. I rather have something cheaper that I'll use than something expensive that will just collect dust.

Have you tried to get her to use yours?

I haven't gotten her to use mine yet. The other option I have is to go ahead and return it and give her iPad2 for her birthday in April (hopefully it will be out then)

I'm confused. If she's not interested in the current iPad. Why would she want a Gen2?

Because it will most likely have facetime and her friends have facetime as well. I am convinced she will want iPad 2 if it does come out with facetime.

I am also considering getting one for my mother. She doesn't want ipad 1 but she could possibly use ipad 2 because
1)it should be lighter
2)facetime

so yeah

I just bought one for my mother for her 65th birthday. She hasn't put the damn thing down... she stays up until 2-3 AM playing with it! BEST gift I ever got her.

My grandfather is 93 years old, and uses my uncle's iPad constantly (he has an ipod too). The interface is just intuitive, and the fact that these non-technical people can use these devices so easily proves it.
