I engraved my new iPad. My first iPad will go to the misses as I generally don't resell my tech stuff. My engraving isn't personalized, so I probably can sell to a Pink Floyd fan on the odd chance I decide to do so:

There is no dark side of the moon, really;matter of fact it's all dark.

Not the exact quote of the end of the record but as close as I could get with the character limit.

If i was buying a used iPad, I'd rather pay the extra money to have it without the engraving, than spend the extra money on a case to hide the engraving.

Probably true, unless you're one of the many folks that will use a case anyway. I think we all put a bit too much value into Apple products, as cool as they are. It is a personal electronic, not a home or a boat. Absent something very personal or odd, I just don't think it is going to have very much impact at all.

That said, probably a good idea to avoid if you're buying it with resale being a top priority. But I don't think that is true for many people. It just so happens that people on this website are disproportionately consumed by small things like this. Comes with the territory.
