My iPad Air is almost full and Mail and Messages take up the most space. I have tried to delete everything from my Gmail account on the iPad, but there are thousands and I seem to have to do them one by one. But I don't know if this is actually clearing space on the hard drive.

What is the best or fastest way to empty old Gmail inbox mail and will this indeed give me more space on my iPad? Also, how can I delete my iMessages so they actually clear space. I did delete most messages and it showed no difference in Settings of the amount of space taken by Messages.

Thanks for any help.

Note: I just did find a way to clear Messages. But I'm still trying to clear out my Gmail Inbox. Isn't there a way to do it by batches instead of one by one? If will this indeed clear space if I go one by one?
