iPad + iMovie + still pictures = fail?!?!

Ok
I'm on vacation with my wife and I'm trying to make a 10 min slide show of our best moments on my iPad.

I have imported our pics with iPad connection kit and they look great. But when I import them to iMovie, the result is a disaster! I tried to watch the first 3 mins and the result was Blurry blurry blurry pics!

Any help?.?.?

I found that by saving my project to the camera roll (in 720p - it will ask you what size you want to save it in) then viewing it after you've saved, the pictures are back to the original quality. Now if I could only figure out a way to import videos from my Canon camera I'd be such a happy camper! Hope this helps!
