So I almost bought an iPad on impulse today. I’m thinking it may help with my school work as I sometimes try to read my books on my phone. It works but I scroll a lot. I want to go with the iPad 5th generation 32 GB as my phone has 64GB and I’m barely scratching 30GB plus a bunch of stuff I don’t use but haven’t removed.

What are your thoughts? Do you use the iPad for school or books? How is it on the eyes? What is the cycle wait or buy now?

Thanks :)

[doublepost=1514417546][/doublepost]I used an iPad with keyboard throughout college along with my MacBook Pro/30 inch monitor setup—worked brilliantly. I found that the iPad/keyboard was a perfect, anywhere device that I used to read course books, respond to professors, forums, prep homework, and to study for tests/exams. I could work on papers, assignments, etc on the iPad and finish up on the Mac. The 30 inch monitor with the Mac was also perfect because it allowed me to have multiple windows open for research, testing, papers and such.

I would look at a higher than 32gb capacity though as you will probably integrate more coursework, downloaded books, research paper, etc. Also, look at an Air 2 or higher; the multitask function is another thumbs up with a later model. Good luck with your decision!

I had to look up to see what you were talking about ..... lol.. the '5th generation' thew me..

That one looks good .. although i don't use mine much anymore. Perfect for reading.

I think iPads passed the threshold from merely "great for reading" to "delightful to read from" a couple of years ago – it's so easy to notice just now nice and sharp text looks that noticing is almost a distraction. I think the iPad mini 4 is currently the ultimate reader (but then I'd previously spent a number of years dreaming about real-life PADDs, which I think that product is the closest thing to thus far), but the fifth-gen iPad is also spacious and lighter than many books.

I ended up getting one. 32GB for $250 on sale at Target. It’s been an amazing device to say the least. My battery is at 65% still and I’ve used it lightly for YouTube Netflix and reading. It hasn’t been fully charged in almost 48 hours too. :)

$250 for that really is an absolute steal. If I had the money right now I’d be tempted.

I see what people mean by hollow tap now. Haha. It does have a bit of a hollow sound when tapping. I love the pull down keys for numbers and symbols. It’s awesome. Best deals are after Xmas
