While we noted yesterday that the iPad appeared set to launch in Scandinavia today, Apple's new round of international launches for the popular tablet device has extended to a total of eleven countries scattered around the globe: Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Sweden, and Taiwan.

Pricing and retail distribution partners vary from country to country, so customers should check with Apple and their favorite retailers regarding availability. Customers interested in 3G-capable iPad models should also check to see which carriers are supporting service in their country and determine data service pricing options.

How lovely, about 8 months late. I don't get why they are even bothering now if the new iPad is on the way in a few months.

Apple's Latest Restriction. Now available in eleven more countries. The couch crowd goes wild!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-gb; GT-P1000 Build/FROYO) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Santa is going to have a lot of 10 inch boxes to deliver methinks! :D

Do we know if the iPad 2 release is planned to be staggered like this also? If so I will probably sell mine (coming from the US) in the UK and then wait for the release. It can't hurt after all.

Do you think Apple with continue to make iPad1 models as well as making the new iPad 2 models?

Will they keep supplying the old iPad1 to these new countries whilst the rest of us are buying the iPad2 models?

Wonder how this will work?

It worked with the iPhone, so why not the iPad?

It's possible they will keep the old model around while dropping its price. That's how they often handle their phones, for example.

As for the timing of iPad 2, that's likely to show up in the spring, or Q2 2011, but everywhere on Earth? Maybe not. So those countries getting iPad just now might not get iPad 2 as soon as the U.S. again.

And unless you need a camera, the original iPad is a great machine that takes the place of 80-90% of a computer's use. Makes a terrific Christmas present (and is on the top of many people's lists).

When in South Africa?

Dear Mr Jobs
Here at the ass-end of Africa some of us do have electricity and even computers (yes, even Macs). We don't all have bones through our noses and grass skirts. So when the @#$# are we getting the iPad!!

You need to send this message by way of drums :p

(Joking!)

Seriously, I think Apple would be happy to have more business including those in grass huts. But different countries have different restrictions and taxes and internet providers and Apple has work this all out with this new product. Their tendency with such products is to get them out in chunks--North America first, certain European countries next, etc. Looks like they're not only taking their time hammering out the details with each group, but also making enough to go around, as each time they add a group they have to make more. Very sorry that African countries are on the tail end of it all.

Have you written to Apple directly? I think you should.

Even with the new iPad (v2) immanent, me thinks v1 will always find a home with corporate users as it doesn't have a camera and corporations don't like cameras embedded in their employees ipads/blackberries/phones.
