I'm loving my new iPad Pro Magic Keyboard, but one thing that I never liked about Apple cases was that they lacked a way to keep the pencil securely on the case. I know that there is a thread on the case buddy case to attach the pencil and allow it to charge, but I would rather not add bulk and weight to the case.

My ideal case or solution would be to allow the pencil to be charged and remain securely on the case, especially when being carried in my bag.

I've considered adding a pencil loop to slide the pencil through and somehow attach it to the case, but that would obstruct having the pencilcharge due to the material resting between the pencil and iPad (e.g. elastic).

I bought this MOFT accessory, but it hasn't gotten great reviews on Amazon, stating that its too difficult to push the pencil and that the holder detaches from the case. Anyone have any other DIY ideas on how to I could securely attach the pencil while allowing it to charge without additional bulk?

Any suggestions or feedback are greatly appreciated!

I’m also looking for a solution similar to this! If I find anything I’ll post here. :) Most of the sleeker solutions I find require you to permanently stick something to the iPad Pro or the case, which I’m not keen on.

They do perhaps give you a bonus pull tab to open the case though which is great?

Also, where did you order your Moft pencil holder from? I can’t find it on Amazon and I’m based in the U.K. so would rather not pay loads for shipping.

I ordered mine from Amazon, but I'm in the US.

I use this pencil sleeve from ringke. Bought it last year and still holds well. No trouble getting it in n out but doesnt let you charge while in the sleeve. Weight nothing around ~10g.

Yes! This is very close to what I'm trying to achieve. Wish the elastic was thinner so it had the ability to charge the pencil.

Oh cool! Let me know when you get yours and if it allows you to charge the Pencil?

I just got mine. It’s total garbage. Super stiff and it barely even attaches to the folio via its magnets. The pencil loop is also really tight which makes taking the pencil out really difficult. I’m returning it.

you can always go back to using the discontinued Apple leather sleeve.

expensive as hell but i still kinda want one.

Check this one its called ”in-line Apple Pencil“
Works with magnetic charging while still in the sleeve
But reviews on amazon jp varies and some say the loop is tight as well..

This one looks pretty good but unfortunately doesn’t ship to the UK (where I’m based)? Can’t seem to find it on Amazon UK either... :(

So this is the best solution I have found to keep my Apple Pencil Secure...I bought an OEM Microsoft Surface Pencil Loop and glued it inside the Magic Keyboard case. I had previously tried Leuchtturm 1917 Black Pen Loop and it was too thick to place inside the case between the iPad and the elastic loop was too tight with the apple pencil to stick on the outside of the case and have the pencil charge. I also purchased the GRP pencil holder, but it arrived after I tried the surface loop solution, so I don't intend to use it unless the surface loop has issues.

With the surface loop pen holder, I centered the loop where the pencil charges and the loop is thin enough to allow charging while keeping the pencil secure. It is the least obstructive solution I have found and it looks pretty good. This is something Apple could have easily done since it does not look out of place, even without the pencil attached.

Can you provide a link for the loop? This looks exactly like what I am looking for! :)

It says out of stock, but not sure if the seller has a different listing for it. There are other sellers also selling similar items that may work as well, this is just the one I decided to purchase from and its worked well so far.

Hope that helps. That was the biggest issue I was having with my keyboard folio...securely attaching the pencil.

That does help, thank you! I will look around for one that is in stock and see about getting it. What a great idea, i hope Apple sees this and integrates it into a future version.

I got this from zugucase.com. They also make the best ipad/iPad Pro non-keyboard cases I’ve ever seen. It looks like it was made for the case. Doesn’t allow charging but that’s not an issue. The pencil charges to 100% very quickly.

Check these out! They're cheaper and they look promising. I'll try two for attaching the pencil and an extra for keeping a pen in my passport.

Yep this works. You can charge the pencil while it's in the loop if you attach the loop off center to the right. If you center it or attach it on the left, it won't charge. I attached it inside the case and it doesn't seem to interfere with the magnet or the iPad pro charging.

Some great solutions here, although won't sticking things to your smart keyboard or magic keyboard mark them permanently in the long run?

I thought this was decent non permanent / non adhesive solution: MoKo Pencil Case Holder

Hmmm I think I would prefer something that lets the Pencil properly connect to the iPad.

That random, at an angle attachment looks too flimsy...

Thanks for this.. found a seller on Amazon, paid $4.99 shipping, but all in it was like $15. This is a great solution, looks like it belongs there, plenty secure. I put mine dead center like yours, but attached to the iPad. Allows me to roam the office with the iPad and pen intact. Also, would allow me to use other cases.

This is the one I ordered

Looks awesome! Even more piece of mind while you’re carrying the iPad without a case.
