Last week I went to the local Apple Store to inquire about trading in my iPad Mini 2 for an iPad Mini 4 with more storage. My 2 was in perfect condition (less than a year old) and I had a leather case from Apple ($79.00) on it. I asked the sales person if it would fit the 4 and I was assured it would. My mistake was not to have him try it in the store as I chose to set it up at home. It did not fit. As they had already recycled the Mini 2, I was out the $79 for the cover as it was now useless.

If you have accessories that you want to reuse, always try first in the store.

You should go back and complain about the misinformation you were given. That‘s terrible customer service, especially if you received no solution for their mistake.

sorry to hear about your experience. how much did you have to pay to get the mini 4, 128gb i assume?

The Mini 4 128GB was $399.00. I returned it the next day due to my displeasure with their customer service and product knowledge.

$399? didn't they give you any money for the trade in? also, 2 weeks ago i went to my local apple store for a sticky button issue on my mini 4, they replaced it free of charge under warranty, and the rep also said if it was out of warranty then it'll be $299 for the 128gb.

They did give me $95.00 for the Mini 2 (Cellular + WiFi AT&T) which is now on an Apple Gift Card. I did donate the Leather cover/case to the store in hope that someone could use it. If the Mini 2 was still available I would have taken it back but Apple had recycled it already.

You overpraid. Best Buy had these old things for $275 back in December and they're always discounting them.

Yes, learned a few lessons here.

I'm sorry, is there anyway you can return it? This is why I only go to the Apple Store for warranty issues. They never discount their items, but I've had great luck with brick and mortars.

I did return it the following day as I was very upset with the lack of knowledge by the Apple associate. Wound up getting a gift card for the trade in which had already been recycled and I donated the unusable (by me) case.

Not a very economical visit to the Apple Store.
