they didnt even address this. i wonder if they kept the A7 in there from last year. apple website may update

yes forget about 2GB ram could have last yrs processor

----------

altho w price increase i would think its an A8 but no x

specs are up on the site. it is an A7 confirmed

Wowzers! Thanks for confirming. What does this mean for performance lag in iOS 8? Hoping they fix it with a software update, as this means the new ones will be laggy out of the box UNLESS it is already fixed with 8.1

I think the lag will remain. Software can only do so much.

Now on the Air 2, that should be smooth as a baby's bottom!

Wow, why would anyone buy an iPad mini 3? Just for touch ID? Makes no sense...

Mini just got SLAMMED !!!

This is very disappointing, it got NOTHING but the touchid.

iPad got new camera, touchid, processor, non-reflective screen, barometer, ...
for same price....

Mini got touchid ...

SLAMMED!!!!

Why would anyone buy a mini 3 vs mini 2?? $100 for touch id...

The only good news is the mini 2 is now $100 cheaper.

I'm pissed.

iPodTouch ... nothing... it's how old now? not even a price drop?

Impressed with the Air2, but that's it.

Very strange they only added touch ID to the mini. Perhaps they're trying to kill it off?

They officially killed it off today with a $399 starting price. The Mini 3 should have dropped $100 and then it would be viable.

By keeping the A7 in the mini 3 they basically killed off the platform. They basically are saying if you want a mini, but a iPhone 6 Plus. Loosers.

If I remember correctly the Mini is one of Apple's lowest margin products. This should increase margins a bit. So not trying to kill it, but trying to make it more profitable. Apple is a business after all.

The rMini 3 is competing with the iPhone 6+ (I know they are different products but they are competing). Similar to the Touch in the past, it looks like they are keeping the rMini hardware a generation behind the iPhone. I imagine a lot of people are going to order the iPhone 6+ after seeing the new rMini 3.

This price didn't kill it, neutering it with an A7 processor did. Atleast we know why the price got bumped down on the mini 2, you only get 16 or 32gb options now. Apple can suck it.

last year there was a lot of disappointment for having used the same processor in the Air and Mini (WHY WHY WHY!)

MIGHT BE A 'PAUSE' to separate the 2 products A8X and A7, next year, A9 and A7x or similar

this year upgrade is the most ridiculous in ipad history

glad i have waited, i'll try to find a mini2

$100 for Touch ID is insane. On the other hand, an iPad mini retina for only $299 is a good deal.

its like they are trying to justify the death of the mini sonthey dont need to update
