Most Likely:
Speed Bump
Touch ID
Slightly improved camera
Gold Option

Hopeful:
Size and Weight of IPad non Retina 1
2 GB Ram with multitasking
NFC

I think these are pretty realistic expectations right?

I think the rMini is do for a bigger overhaul. Not much has been leaked so maybe it will be announce now and released later.

I would be surprised if it was anything major. It seems the air maybe selling better.

My personal to 3 wishes are:
-thinner/lighter
-Address the limited color gamut issue
-2GB Ram

Just recently sold my Mini Retina so that I can purchase a new and hopefully much improved mini Retina 2. I guess we'll know soon!

Yea...you're probably right. We probably won't know until at the time pre orders begin. Too bad! I do a lot of photography and that's probably the main issue I had with the Mini Retina....the full range of colors could not be displayed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will be corrected.

There's a recent rumor that points to no iPad mini update until next year so my predictions, assuming the iPad mini is updated this year, are the following:
  • 7.9" 2048x1536 display
  • Thinner design
  • Ion-X glass
  • A8 SoC, clocked the same as the A8 in the iPhone 6
  • 1 GB RAM, 2 GB only if split-screen multitasking for iOS is introduced
  • 16/64/128 GB storage options
  • Touch ID
  • Same prices as the current iPad mini
  • The 16 GB A7 iPad mini will replace the A5 iPad mini

Anything short of 2gigs of ram, Touch ID, and standard 32+ memory at the current insane prices and they'll be making my choice to switch to an Android-based tablet much much easier.

The color gamut need to be improved, but it isn't that bad now. You are joking about thinner and lighter, correct? To me it is right now about as perfect with those as it needs to be.

Better speakers, perhaps?

The other issues don't matter much to me, but better (or at least louder) speakers would be nice.

I would LOVE that. I've been wanting better speakers on my iPhones forever! Apple say they're all about the music, but then give us subpar hardware to listen to said music..

I can see how you'd think I was joking (as small and light as the R Mini is), but I was actually serious. I had the original mini and the R Mini. The R Mini grew chubby compared to the original....hoping they slim the R Mini 2 back down and manage to shave off some weight.

Oh man how much thinner and lighter do we need it though.

Tim Cook," I'd like to present to you, The Ipad mini transparent. I am really excited to show you this amazing product today. We've made it 30% thinner, and lighter. In fact, we've made it so thin that when you turn it on it's side, it disappears. This really is an amazing achievement for the Apple team to have achieved. Starting at only $399.99 for 16 gigs of storage and one gig of ram. Amazing"

As thin and light as the original mini. It makes a significant difference when you're using it for long periods of time. Transparency not necessary :)

+1

I've used the iPad Mini R extensively for the past year and as small and light as it is, I find it gets heavy when using for extended periods. I'm sure they can manage to shave off some weight from both the Mini R and the Air. I'm holding my wife's Air now with one hand while typing....it feels like a brick.....love the display though!

yeah the original one was perfect. they can also use the old cases. although from a marketing standpoint would be weird. case for ipad mini 1 and 3. they may goto the curve. but i hope no protruding camera.

Nothing at all? I bet they'll do something! At least a price drop or a capacity increase?

I was referring to a design change. After the Air 2 is released, I think all iPads sold (including the rMin) will be 16/64/128 (they eliminate the 32GB). Thus, the rMini (other than the 16GB) should be cheaper for the amount of storage you get.

My prediction is still that there is no iPad mini 3. My guess is that the iPad Pro will be the big announcement and a new retina air 2. But no mini 3.

We will see what happens.

sales for the mini would have to be really bad for that to happen. too bad they disclose the breakdown.

My prediction is that you're going to buy one on release day.
