Because mine is bigger than yours!!!

Honestly, this color bs is annoying pointless.

In your opinion. Lots of people disagree. Movies and photos don't display properly, and it absolutely disqualifies the Mini 2 and Mini 3 from any kind of use that involves accurate color. In any event, a preview of some test results from Andrew Cunningham indicates that Apple may finally have solved this problem.

I agree. It's been varified so many times that it HAS been improved that at this point, either buy and convince your self or move on. How many pics can we owners post at this point??

Screen is great, speakers are great, battery life is great. Time to buy.

If you're talking to me, please read the part of my post where I say that the problem appears to have been solved.

Speaker volume: don't reply in this thread, but comments in one of the other threads on speaker volume would be helpful. One person has posted that he compared his Mini 2 and Mini 4 and found the Mini 4 was quieter and "tinny." That doesn't seem to be what most people think. Your input would be useful on that (in one of the other threads).

Ignorant comment. The color gamut issue has nothing to with "bigger" specs. If you can't understand why an accurate and complete range of colors matters to many people, then don't read threads about it. Go play Angry Birds instead, or whatever you do on your device.

No I wasn't directing it to you but I commented and gave my input on all these matters on various threads with my own pictures and data. The only way to confirm or convince anyone of anything is to either buy it, go demo it, or see it for themselves. With a 14 day no risk return policy, there is no reason not to biy one even if you think you are only 50% interests in owning the new Mini 4.

I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING ODD ABOUT THESES PHOTOS on page 1.

Look at the photos on the left of the iPad mini 2 you CAN'T see the home button on any of the photos, so this tells me that either you altered the photos to make them look whiter or lighter OR there was light overhead of the Mini 2 when you took the photos because the home button is washed out completely so the photos will also be washed out. Then look at the photos on the right of the Mini 4 you can clearly see the home button. Something is odd.

I noticed that too but after I pinch zoomed the pic, I can see a home button. I just assumed they didn't have a gold accent ring around the home button on the Mini 2.

You can see the home button if you zoom in and look carefully. I have no ideas if he altered the photos or not, but there's nothing in it for him to do so.

Also, you can see the text, the white plastic etc. all pretty much match, so I don't see clear evidence of brightness tampering. More likely just a photographic anomaly i.e. the angle at which the light hit the Mini's home button on the left.

Regardless, I now own a Mini 4 and there's no doubt the screen is superb, with vastly improved colors and saturation over the previous Minis. At least one tester has already found a ~99% color gamut. Anyone like me, who's been wanting a Mini but waiting for the screen to be improved to the level of the Airs, the Mini 4 is it.

Lol mate :)

I just took screenshots on the video yt on my mac.... and then i croped the edges in order to hide my safari bookmars and in general to focus on screens..... by removing no needed space around iPad screens.

It doesn't matter to almost anyone except the 2% who actually do have the need and the 8% who want to be complaining snots. Everyone else understands it is a non-issue for 98% of users.

I just looked at them again zoomed in and still don't see the home button, I don't dispute that the colors are probably better on the 4 but al the photos on the left (mini 2) just look altered or too light because the home button is too light compared to the right photos.

Official test show the Mini 4 and IPad Air 2 are the same.

"
In this test, the iPad Mini 2’s color gamut was reported as 76 percent of sRGB. The iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 4 were reported at 98 percent and 99 percent respectively—within the margin of error, we’d say—and their chromaticity charts look essentially the same."

The Mini 2 doesn't have Touch ID, so no ring around the home button. That might be causing your confusion. I can see the home button on the Mini 2. You can also see the fingertips are very similarly exposed in that first photo. (But I am using a Mini 3 to look, so hmmm....)

It is true they might have altered the photos, so, who knows. I am guessing the white point on the exposure was set for the white frame, or at least close to it. That's what I would do.

These photos are not a great representation of a true comparison, I thought these were taken from a camera directly at the iPad's however re reading the authors post this was a screen capture taken from a you tube video, to be honest there are too many variables in loss of quality when comparing using this kind of scenario. I have an iPad mini 2 and I put on that photo on of the purple flower and it does not look as light or washed out as that photo on the left.

This will be my last post on this topic...time to move on...

My bad, Mini 4 is at 101% of sRGB and 2% refelectance: http://www.displaymate.com/news.html#iPad_mini_4

That's great! My aging mini 1st gen needs a replacement soon. It's still going strong with iOS 9.1. I'll probably wait until January, which is the third anniversary of my purchase. Three years is not bad for a device which had many updates along the way. My iPad 2 that I gave to my mother a few years ago is still going after four years, and I'll probably update that one to 9.1. I believe that one came with iOS 4 originally, so Apple supported it with five major OS updates!

So I'm thinking the iPad mini 4 will give me at least four years of good usage.

That is completely awesome that they fixed the washed out colors on the mini, and put it on pare with its big brother. I've been Lol'ing at people not saying directly to me that this is a none issue. Anyways, played with the mini 4 today at the store, and it screams with speed. The screen is pretty much perfect, and I believe it's a worthy upgrade from any mini you currently own especially the mini 3 ;)

Yup, yup and yup.

So glad I cancelled my Air 2 order at Staples and picked up a Mini 4 this morning. I was going on past history with earlier Minis, the screen was just dreadful. Was being the operative word here. iPad Mini 4: the screen is glorious (how nice it is to read without glare or eye strain. The colors look fantastic and bright and not a lot of reflection either. Gives me such hope as far as my vision and iDevices.) The speakers are great handling both noisy death metal and foreign films without sounding tinny or muffled. No vibrations either. The weight is on point.

Software-wise, Dictation is greatly improved. I can see test driving this in Pages a lot over the next couple of months. I am still leaning toward the iPad Pro, but I want to see how this iPad performs with my creativity. Right now though, I am content in having a consumption device that is comfortable for me in every way.

I've been iPad skittish because of the screen and speaker issues in the past. Not any more. :apple::)

If these numbers that you pulled out of your backside are true, why did Apple put such a great display into the Mini 4? Why bother fixing the color gamut problem that MANY people have noticed and complained about for YEARS? I suspect it's a lot more than "2%" that need and care about the display quality.

The only "complaining snot" here is you, whining how "annoying" the color talk is for you. Well, Apple doesn't agree with you, we don't agree with you, and you're just plain wrong on the entire issue.

So...how is battery life with the Mini 4 compared to the Mini 2/3??? Not from the spec sheet, but in real life, for real owners.
