We have new protective silicone cases exclusively for iPad Mini 4.... nice, very nice Apple :)

I can't believe they are £50 in the UK though! That means to get what is effectively a polyurethane Smart Case it costs £80 (that's about $120). Not sure how long it will take for third party sleeves to start coming out, I don't want to leave my new iPad unprotected for too long.

i looked on ebay and it seems the third party sellers think the 4 is the same as the 2 and 3.
At this point, I think Apple has the only case of any kind available.. I dont like the feel of silicone cases. Too bad they are not offering leather. Again.

I'm happy with a smart cover and a simple sleeve, that's what I've always used. Hoping it doesn't take long after having one in their hands that the third parties realise the 4 won't fit in their previous cases.

Stupid pricing! I was actually going to pick up a leather smart case for the mini 4 until I saw this was the only option. I prefer a single case to the rear and front cover combination so wasn't going to get this anyway but how can they justify £80 for both? The leather smart case for Air 2 is only £60.

Yup, no leather case. The mini has never had leather offered. Still un loved. :(

Not true, I've got the leather smart case for the mini 2 - it's actually a great case and I would happily of bought similar for the mini 4. In saying that, I got the same case for the Air 2 and returned it as it was quite deep and not a perfect fit - it made the Air 2 much thicker than it needed to be.

When I got my mini two at launch the leather case was not offered - thus my comment. I stand corrected, but again leather is not offered at launch.

Hmm, I wonder if the smart case will make an appearance for the mini 4 then. I'm sure it will be too late either way as I'll be looking to pick something up very soon.

These look nice, but the price is just ridiculous for a silicone case. I've always just used a smart cover with an amazon basics clear shell on the back anyways.

I noticed it today. Outrageous pricing. I also preferred the iPad Mini 2 leather smart case. Oh well...

I think it's a ridiculous price and hate the idea of having to use two covers at once and I hate silicone covers!

I LOVE my red iPad Mini 2 smart case and I won't even consider buying a iPad Mini 4, if Apple doesn't release a leather smart case.

Oh well, my mini 2 will be fine for the next years I think ;-)

Really? So you nix a decice because of a case that you can buy third party...
And this is one sweet device we're talking about.

Yup, I have not ever seen a case with this nice fit for either Air or Mini. I've been through several cases. And I prefer leather.

I always have my mini with me on the go and I need scratch protection and so on, when it is in a backpack with many other items.

I want the full Apple experience or rather wait

a silicone case? ehm.. :/ no, not even with a apple tag... i only use a smartcover because i can be clumsy or some else can be. the front glass is the fragile component, not the aluminium case and it is a consumption device, not a trophy...

nothing wrong to protect devices, but what is the point to praise aluminium over plastic and then pull the condom around it which even feels worse than the hard plastic case. And after some time the soft silicone case looks dusty...

This is the Mini sized iPad we are discussing, and for the back I use the 'Skinomi® TechSkin - Apple iPad Mini 4 Screen Protector + Full Body Skin Protector'. The front i leave bare because I take my Mini everywhere. A cover hampers its fit in my back pocket. I dont use the front Skinomi protector at all.
I have what I perceive to be the full Apple experience as I am connected to the echo system and the internet at all times with the data verson of my iPad and have it and use it all day long. I do have a front cover made by Apple for my mini too but rarely use it. And the back is well protected from scratches. The Skinomi is microns thin, so it is almost like using the device naked, but with a good grip.
I guess, thats the beauty of choice- I will enjoy my Mini 4 now and you can start when Apple makes a leather case, if they make a leather case.
Edit
Btw, I do have a beautiful and very functional Leather case for my Mini 2 that is made by Bear Motion. It is still in almost new condition because I rarely used it, but its fit and beauty is exceptional.

I also have Best Skin Ever front and back skin on my Mini 2 and then it's also in the Smart Case. I've tried a thicker skin than BSE, but I wasn't satified with it. I LOVE BSE, but would never use it as the only protection for my mini 2.

Yup, I can live with a Mini 2, because we've got a big line of Apple products in our home already. And the Mini 2 got LTE and loads of data every month.

I think I will live happily with out a new Mini for now

It is interesting to hear the different wishes and use for the Mini - even when I do not share the same opinions

Agreed. Enjoy your new device when you pull the trigger.
The current Mini 2 is still a magical device to me, it's got a lot of years left in it. Pretty silly how they dropped the 3, what was their reasoning behind that?

Looks useful in some situations so I ordered the gray one, but would mostly just use it without the back cover in a leather sleeve so I've also pre-ordered a sleeve :)

Amazon shows to have the Khomo for mini 4 in stock for a few of the colors. No Prime shipping on the mini4. I ordered three and they will be here on or before the arrival of the minis. Accidents happen and I just don't like not having some protection. I don't think I have ever failed to drop a device at some point. Some have survived multiple drops but they have all had protection of some kind.
