Got my iPad mini 4 today, ordered a third party smartcover, but lock and unlock doesn't work.

The option in settings general is on.

I've tested the case with my mini 3, it works.

Does unlock work in new iPad mini 4??

    Thanks

You need an iPad mini 4 specific smart case/cover.

The case I've bought is iPad mini 4 specific, only from a third party manufacturer Jettech.

Sounds like you haven't bought an iPad mini 4 case. All the JETech iPad mini 4 cases on Amazon are showing as not shipping until next month.

No, I've bought the case from Amazon Germany, all the holes are fitting to iPad mini 4. The old cases don't fit, the camera of the iPad mini 4 has been moved.

Sounds like the manufacturer has just changed the dimensions and not accounted for new magnet placement. Or its just a dud case. I'd send it back.

    Check with the manufacturer.

When the iPad Air first came out the early adopter cases fit, but the magnets had been moved. I bought a poetic case after the cases were updated, but I think that poetic actually replaced the cases where the magnets didn't line up properly. Maybe that's why the last time I checked they weren't selling folio cases yet.

I have the gold serial case from Jetech for the mini 4. The rear has a perfect fit but the front cover extends to fat and the auto wake/sleep doesn't work. I have emailed the seller and waiting for some direction.

I think all of the 3rd party folio cases on Amazon are from the same mold/manufacturer. I purchased the Moko Case and have the exact same issues as you have on the Jetech. I have read the Khomo cases are exactly the same as well. I have been in touch with Moko and their customer service (excellent, BTW - replied to emails very quickly) has acknowledged all of the issues (Sleep/Wake, magnets, front cover extending over the screen, and the extra cutout on the volume side - they said it was for a SIM card port which I don't have on my wifi-only model - they will be removing the cutout). They advised a new replacement case that corrects all of these issues would be sent within a week or so without charge. I am free to keep the original case I have now.

In fact, Moko was proactive in that they sent an email explaining all of this before I ever contacted them. My case was ordered though our Prime account which is under my wife's email address, so I never saw their email.

All in all, I am very happy with the way they are handling this. Considering the case was $6, I feel I'm getting more than I should expect.

I would assume (hope) that Jetech/Khomo/etc are handling the situation in a similar manner. I would contact their customer service if you have not heard from them.

    Thanks Bill.
Yes, I heard back from them and I supplied the order number on Saturday so now just waiting on a response. Hopefully they have a revised case in the works because otherwise I like the slim fit of the Jetech.

I bought an expensive one from Speck. Great case, but the sleep wake did not work. They said that a fix was expected in a few weeks. We shall see. I bought 3 others from Amazon and none had functional sleep wake capabilities even when the ads said so. Beware and be ready to return.

Just curious, did you mean smart case or smart cover?

as someone mentioned earlier, early case manufacturers did not do it perfectly for iPad Mini 4.

but if you meant smart cover, then can you please share a link for that, because I still don't see anyone made a smart cover for iP4 yet, except for the Apple.. And they are expensive..

You need to go to settings/brightness/lock/unlock
