hi friends.
is there any way to predict what ios version am i getting with ipad mini 5 out of the box?
i've been told earlier models came out with ios 12.x, while somewhere along the lines they sarted being shipped with ios 13.1.1. any one knows the particular year/production week when ipad mini 5 started getting factory 13.1.1?

I have no idea, but I guess it depends on when the specific item was produced. I have to ask why though?

you don't have to) i guess you just being curious.
it's because i prefer not to update older devices to any newer version. reason is i suspect new os versions are intentionally slowing down older devices.

First thing I do is update any new item out of the box, so I found it a strange question. That’s why I ‘had to’ ask.
Each to their own though! I do find it hard to believe Apple are intentionally slowing down a product you haven’t even purchased yet though. My 2p.

Doesn't the activation process force updates? At least mine does when I go through setting up a new device.

It shouldn't. Restoring from a device backup that has a higher firmware installed, yes you have to update.

If just setting up as new, no it hasn't required firmware updates on my devices yet.

That would explain it - I always restore from backup (or have) when I was playing around with several iPads this year. Thank you!

If you truly believe Apple is intentionally screwing over consumers, why would you spend money on more Apple products? Your actions don't make sense.

friends, we digress.
i would like to hear the answers to my original post question, so if anyone got a clue - please, chime in!
