Memories of 2013...ipad mini always plays the catch up
I hardly use the mini 2 now, but if I were to upgrade I would be happy with a Mini 4. The improvements specified are realistic, although it would be nice to have some of the following generation of iPhone's headline features.
This is why the iPad mini 2 was a fantastic upgrade because it had everything the iPad and iPhone had. Except it didn't get the touchID like the iPhone 5s.
I kinda think Apple's long term plan is to make the iPad Air so light and compact so it's essentially just the screen. It'll then be about the same size as the current Mini form factor. if they can manage that, then what's the point of making a mini.
I don't have any inside knowledge, but with Apple's rigid product segregation philosophies, I'd be absolutely shocked if the mid- and mini-size iPads ever get stylus support.
Memories of 2013...
A shame. I think the 8 inch form factor would be great for note taking. In fact I bought my wife a Samsung Note 8 a few years ago and she loves it.
As someone who has used many stylus based devices over the years, as far back as the Pocket PC's and Palms, I think Steve Jobs was wrong about them. Yes, not having to always use a stylus is a huge plus on modern devices, but the option to use one is also a huge plus when it makes sense to do so. Jobs was not always right.
Exactly my prediction as well!iPhone 5s- A7, iPad Air A7, iPad mini 2- A7
6- A8, Air2- A8x, mini 3- A7
6s- A9, Air2- A8x, mini 4- A8, Pro- A9x
I would say next year would be
iPhone 7- A10, Air3- A9x, mini 5- A9, Pro- A10x
As you can see, iPhone is the favorite child. It gets the latest and greatest every year.
Well, granted with the introduction of the plus I have no need for an iPad Mini and an iPad Air but back then it was nice to have a portsble big screen to companion my 5S!Wow, that's just throwing with Numbers here ... Nobody knows anything about those weird life-cycles of the iPads at the moment. Let's see when the iPad Air 3 will be revealed, then you can speculate about specs and stuff about an iPad mini 5, i mean, come on, it just got refreshed some weeks ago. It's now (somehow) up to date and seems to be a (/the?) perfect tablet (at least smaller than 9,7"!).
Oh yeah, that've been great times! But well, now deciding got a lot easier actually!
I'm thinking the iPad mini 5 will have an A9 chip, a 5MP FaceTime HD camera (with Retina Flash?), Touch ID 2nd generation, 3D Touch, and come in Rose Gold. The iPad Air 3 should have the A9X as the only difference (and both will retain the same design but might be 6.3mm thick, or an increase of 0.2mm like the iPhone 6s to accommodate 3D Touch). I'm not sure about stereo speakers, though.
They went from an A5 to an A7, A7, and A8. If the iPad mini 2 would have had an A6, then the pattern would be for the iPad mini to get the A-chip from the previous year's iPhones. That's why I feel from now on they will go up one A-chip version each year.
iphone? or ipad pro ? seems to me A9x is better than A9, and the A10x will be better than A10. But still iphone will be in front with the features and innovationsiPhone 5s- A7, iPad Air A7, iPad mini 2- A7

Wrong. You get more performance for the chip to device ratio. A9 in an iPhone screams better than A9x to an iPad pro.iphone? or ipad pro ? seems to me A9x is better than A9, and the A10x will be better than A10. But still iphone will be in front with the features and innovations
