I’m bummed. My 1-year-old iPad Mini 6 bought the farm this evening. Well, it’s not totally dead - it dings when it’s plugged in, and my Mac recognizes it when I connected it and was able to reload the OS, but the screen went black and totally unresponsive in the middle of a game, and stayed that way after updating. First it froze, then turned off. I’m guessing the screen digitizer went south, from everything I’ve read about the issue. This one might have been a refurb from Amazon, I don’t recall, so I’m not gonna cry about it, though all my past iPads have lasted several years. I don’t have Apple care on it, so to fix it will cost me at least half of what it will to just replace it with the newer model, which is what I did. Just wondering if anybody else had this issue, as judging from the wealth of info on it online it seems it’s not an isolated problem.

You can get a new iPad mini 7 for 399 or less depending on sales.

Yup, that’s what I up and did. Just got here Tuesday afternoon. To be honest, it doesn’t feel a whole lot different from the Mini 6. Physically they’re identical. Hard to tell for sure though on the first day after the OS update and full restore, but the extra RAM and storage should be good for a few years.

I upgraded to the 7 from the 6 last year after having my 6 for 3 years. I couldn’t really tell the difference but it was nice to get the extra storage and ram for the same price I paid for my mini 6.
