or you see it and are good with it because the landscape jelly on the mini 5 bugs you more.

Ordering my 6 today
It is hard to decide if I want to keep the 6 or if I will go back to the mini 5 instead. For everything except the jelly scrolling in portrait it is way better so it is a big upgrade.

What is "way better" about the 6 for you?
(I'm seriously asking -- I know this is very subjective but I enjoy hearing what is making someone feel that way for their needs, etc)
Like the time I drove my sister's Passat and pointed out that her steering wheel and gauges were 2 inches to the right of the center of the drivers seat. she never noticed it until I pointed it out then she hated me until her lease was up.
Better aspect ratio for watching some youtube, proper speakers so I can use it without headphones when watching said youtube videos. More RAM for less reloads, way better CPU (think I got too many slowdowns on the 5), 5G and so on. For me it is also nice because my 5 is only 64 GB and no cellular so the 6 is an upgrade for me personally in those regards.

I always wonder what folks are doing on their unit to get slowdowns. My Mini5 is just snappy as can be.
Usage is always very subjective of course..
Sounds like a great upgrade that you'll really enjoy and benefit from!

Yeah I have to admit... Macrumors has a habit of this... I remember back in the early days, I bought an iPad 3 - my first iPad ever.... I LOVED that thing (my wife did too) - we used those things - read books, watched TV away from TV - it was amazing.
Then I saw the threads on light bleed. And ... oh my gosh, there's a little bit of light bleed that I didn't realize before.
I custom marked that iPad with a note to my wife and mine had a cool note. Traded those in for new iPad 3s that didn't have the light bleed. I kept reading threads that pointed out tiny little problems on that iPad I went nuts (only traded it in once).
I've grown out of it now but it's taken a long time. 😛

Yeah and I also forgot a big point, Apple Pencil 2 support so I can use it to note some stuff and send to friends or sign documents without having to bring my 12.9" Pro out.
If only it were possible to mod an iPad mini 6 to take an iPad mini 5 screen. That would be an amazing device.
A software fix is possible at the OS level. But these days Apple can't even keep its own watches connected to its own phones.

Lol you named my plan, assuming that they even do bother fixing it as much as they can. Holding it in my hand, it’s otherwise a lovely device with some flaws. Alas, the jelly scroll is egregiously bad. It feels like I’m reading on a rocking boat.

I don't think that such a fix is possible, or only at the cost of significant blurring (and probably added latency).

no use in telling people they shouldn’t be talking about it. Read the thread title…
If no one talked about it apple would call it a feature and never look into fixing it in the next models. Edit : (Or software fix)
I don't think Apple made any claims about the iPad mini like they do with the iPhone and the ceramic shield. Basically if you drop any device with a large glass screen on a hard surface it'll probably break.
The CPU and GPU are more than powerful enough. All you need to do is render content at a slant that compensates the jelly effect. It's easy for something like a document or website or photo albums since the content itself doesn't change in time, just the view of it as you scroll.

I wrote that out of personal experience, my iPad mini 4 survived quite a number of drops.

It would only compensate at the cost of added blur in the perceived (if not actual) picture. Just look at the stills from the videos, what would need to be compensated. It's not just a simple slant.
Yeah, don't spoil a good whinge.
Complaint: when you think someone might actually take notice and fix things
Whinge: complaining when you have no hope that anything will actually change. Done just for enjoying the whinge.
