Anyone else found that the magnetic bit where you magnetically charge the Apple Pencil scuffs easily? I don’t use the Apple Pencil but noticed a blemish on that area of the device…

Also wondering if anyone knows anywhere to get a skin cut to size to cover that area at all so it doesn’t get worse.

Thanks

There was this thread not too long ago on a similar issue to what I think you are describing. I haven’t seen anything here on the mini though although I could have just missed it.

Yeah looking online it seems quite common whether you use the pencil on it or not… likely with it being made of plastic… I would just like to maybe get hold of a black sticker just to cover that area so it doesn’t get worse…. Hopefully someone will chime in with a suggestion.

This is quite common if you use a pencil or not? Where did you see online someone getting these scratches without a pencil attached? Genuinely curious as I have forgone buying the pencil for this very reason.

There are quite a few with blemishes, scratches and marked out of the box
I think as that area is made of plastic, it’s likely to scuff up quite a bit over time… I know it’s only cosmetic and mine blemish quite small and right in the centre of it but I would like to stop it getting any worse if I can.

The first pic, yeah, looks like cosmetic damage out of the box but the second pic is surely the pencil rubbing on the plastic piece.

If there was a way to charge the pencil on a wireless charger or something, I would buy it. Those scratches would bug me on a $1000+ iPad. Will wait and see what the next gen pencil looks like.

Yeah I have enquired with a few iPad skin manufacturers to see if they can make or have a skin just for that area.

I presume they will have the cutouts from making skins for customers so hoping they could possibly send some out for a price for me… at least that way I won’t risk it getting worse over time when it’s in my bag or coat pocket etc…

I was thinking of some sort of case/wrap for the pencil. Might be cheaper and it would help with grip.

Yeah that would probably help if your using the pencil, however, I don’t use one so wouldn’t help me, it’s more a case of damage limitation, as that area will likely get scuffed and scratched more and more as time goes on.
